comodo v7 beta web filtering is performing very pathetically when tested using huge number of malicious & phising & exploit based websites & webpages , comodo v7 beta failed to block a single malicious website out of almost 1000 tested malicious & phising websites & dangerous webpages & it was tested on windows 8 32 bit fully updated & patched operating system using latest version of google chrome browser , so it’s my fervent request to all the respected developers & programmers of comodo security team to please give regular & hourly database updates to the web filtering component of comodo v7 beta to make it worthy & better & powerful & perfect for the purpose for which it is build or developed
They have not added many sites yet. In time they will probably have a large database of sites like other AV software.
Not to say that last webfiler DB update was almost 2 weeks ago, testing it with malicious URL is simply useless for now.
Agreed. They should have update the website list by now. Hopefully Comodo is better about updating the website list after the final release.
Well I’d rather prefer see daily updates once we reach final release, for now no need, they want us to focus on most important bugs…
it’s a request to the respected administrators & maintainence team of this website to please forward the names of the below mentioned websites & webpages to the respected developers & security experts panel of comodo group so that they can add all the dangerous websites links from all the below mentioned websites & webpages to the comodo web filtering database so that comodo is able to block all types of malicious & phising & dangerous websites & webpages & url’s because comodo v7 webfiltering is really performing pathetically when tested on all windows platforms using latest version of google chrome browsers , the websites containing malicious links are as follows :
I asked web analyst, don’t worry about these sources, they’ll be monitored, and WebInspector will also play a role here.
thanks a lot dear spywar but what i mean is not just the links which i provided but the lacs of malicious & phising & exploit based websites & resources that can be seen by opening those websites & it’s my request to the respected developers & programmers & security analysts & experts of comodo security software team to please update the comodo web filtering database signatures by adding the lacs of new & old dangerous & malicious links that those websites contain because it will just not only make the web filtering component of comodo powerful but the very best of all
I see what you mean, but as you can see the webfilter DB has not been updated since BETA launching which means that devs are currently working a lot on the reported bugs first, DB list should be daily updated with final release I hope. Just like antivirus DB.
Hope that helps.
You can import some of these databases into Web filter.
Just
- download the list to a disk file
- create a new category
- choose add ~ import from the category menu
- choose the correct format and disk file
Then you have what you want for now, and later I am sure Comodo will add these lists to the cloud anyway
(Subject to any commercial negotiation.)
Best wishes
Mike
Issue is that these files don’t update, so you’d have to manually update the lists which I think would be tedious, would be cool if you could have some kind of subscription list, like adblock does where you can add third party lists to subscribe to, I don’t know if these exists for malware/phishing though.
“Then you have what you want for now, and later I am sure Comodo will add these lists to the cloud anyway”
Remember we are at Beta now
Yes that’s true but I was thinking just the possibility to add a subscription to a list instead of having to update it manually, then other lists that doesn’t necessarily affect malware/phishing could be added too, for example adblock lists or porn block lists etc, just third party lists in general that Comodo for whatever reason wouldn’t implement themselves.
Also, is the web filter supposed to block things linked on a website if that link is blocked, for example if I post an image here that goes to imgur.com and then add that url to the web filter, is the web filter supposed to block that image from shoving on this forum? Because it doesn’t, it only blocks it once I’m actually trying to go to it but not if it’s linked as an image… I’m thinking this might be an issue whether it’s intentional or not?
Edit: Web filter doesn’t block HTTPS?! :o I was just doing some testing and I simply can’t block this one https website… will make a video and also a bug report if I get it confirmed that this is unexpected behavior.
Fair point. Not sure of cost implications. Maybe Comodo’s list will incorporate updates to these lists.

Because it doesn't, it only blocks it once I'm actually trying to go to it but not if it's linked as an image.. I'm thinking this might be an issue whether it's intentional or not?Edit: Web filter doesn’t block HTTPS?! :o I was just doing some testing and I simply can’t block this one https website… will make a video and also a bug report if I get it confirmed that this is unexpected behavior.
Good point. Please report as bug, with steps to replicate so we can work out if it is. Maybe it will be seen as a wish. Not sure.
It would be an http get that the browser would issue, but of a different kind and syntax I guess, but stillto the same host …
Should think there might be an option to do that.
Alright I made a bug report for the HTTPS issue.
The web filter does actually block linked images that are specified as being blocked, however before I had only tested with HTTPS images which are not blocked, only HTTP images are blocked. However HTTP images are blocked even if the main page is using HTTPS which is a good thing, now Comodo just has to fix the HTTPS issue and blocking linked material will then work nicely.
Thanks Sanya that is just great
Mouse
dear friends Sanya & Mouse 1 it’s not possible for an user of any security software product to manually add the lists of the millions of dangerous websites to be blocked by the web filtering & antiphising of the security software which he/she uses & it’s the complete & sole responsibility of only the developers & programmers of the security software company , take for examples for free security softwares like avast free antivirus & avira free antivirus , this two free security softwares have excellent web filtering & antiphising component & protection modules that blocks almost each & every malicious & phising webpages & it has been tested a lot of times personally by me using thousands of malicious & phising links from websites like www.malwareblacklist.com , www.malwaredomainlist.com, www.malc0dedatabase.com & others , other security softwares like kaspersky & vipre have too tremendously powerful web filtering & antiphising components & modules that blocks almost each & every malicious & exploit based & phising & all other dangerous url’s , but as an user of comodo security software for over 5 years i would like to see comodo web filtering as equivalently or even more better & powerful than avast or avira or kaspersky or vipre , also in avast or avira or kaspersky or vipre user’s don’t have to manually add which is a dangerous website that should be blocked by the web filtering component because it’s the sole responsibility of the developers & programmers of the security software company itself to create & maintain & update & enhance the database & signatures & add it to the database for blocking, so finally hope that the great & respected developers & programmers of comodo security software team regularly & frequently & hourly gives database updates for the web & url filtering & antiphising component of comodo v7 series of products to really bring it in good & best shape because currently the web & url filtering & antiphising component in comodo is of no use at all & is just for show & nothing else which isn’t a good thing for the protection of all comodo users as well as for the reputation of the company & hence it’s product
Thanks Makunda. I think you will find answers to those issues above. Essentially:
- there is a fix to broaden coverage now by importing third party lists
- we expect the Comodo cloud block lists to grow before and after release.
- possibly also additional third party providers will be added or incorporated into the Comodo cloud block list.
Best wishes
Mike
comodo needs to improve the quality of the web filtering component to a much much better extent because comodo’s web filtering is failing to block every sorts of & kinds of malicious & dangerous & phising websites & webpages
