I want to translate Comodo Firewall into Simplified Chinese and PM has sent.
Does anyone have an alternative word for “parent”? It gets too long in swedish, about 2-3 long words, so it wont fit anywhere…
I was thinking of “origin”? Is that a “good” word to translate instead of “parent”?
The owner
The launching application
The upper application
etc etc…
but these are without even knowing a word of Swedish
But of course we all know IKEA
Melih
Thanks Melih!
That’s the kind of help i need. Alternative words to try and translate from…
What about “source”? (in swedish of course…) Like in Sourcecode?
Yes we all know IKEA… : Ingvar Kamprad has made a buck or two… :o
I have a couple of IKEA items myself… ;D
I think source is good.
Melih

Send a PM to Umesh to get the files.
Read about it here:

Folks I’m still waiting for 2 things: to see some screenshots of where each translated item goes, and to get a column in the language files that defines how long field for the translation can be.
Just to give you an example the word “Add” in Italian is “Aggiungi”, there is NO WAY to shorten it and there is NO SUBSTITUTE for it. You can change the tense of the verb, but it will be LONGER and not shorter. Abbrevieting “Aggiungi” will render the word illegible and will not be understandable (e.g. “Agg.” - it could mean a whole bunch of other things… it’s too short to have definite inequivocal meaning).
If there was a column in the .csv file that defined how many characters could be used for the translation it would make life a WHOLE LOT EASIER when making a translation.

P.S. If I have to sign a NDA just to get a look and get a proper translation done then I have no problem with that. Just please help us get it done.
I suggest adding:
Latin american Spanish and I can help with that. I live in Mexico.
I’ve already sent a private message to umesh but so far I’ve not received response.
I read this thread and so far no one seems to offer to translate in Spanish (LA).
Please consider my offer
Im willing to invest some of my time in doing a translation to danish.
I have sent a msg about 3 days ago, to Umesh but he hasnt replied…
I’m not sure, but you probably can just download the files and start to translate.
I think they are happy with all the help they can get.
I do have a problem with translating, because the native letters å,Å,ä,Ä,ö,Ö are not working in csv format… ??? If i save to xls they are working fine…
mmm… where can I download the files???
+1
waiting for the file …
Sorry but i think that they have removed them… They where in Comodo firewall translation…
You have to PM Umesh and wait for a reply. My wrong…
thank you, but i have already post a PM to Umesh …
i hope i’ll receive it quickly !
Hi Guys,
I have received couple of request from various users on translation and some have done also.
The issue that i see the format is not maintained when it comes to having a separate column for a newly added language. There has to be one to one correspondence.
Considering that and the other point which has been raised in forums that context is very important and not always you can be sure where the stuff appears in Comodo Firewall.
We are creating a tool that will have translation to be done in a grid control with following columns:
[Context] [English Text] [English Text Length] [Translation] [Translated Text Length]
Once you click on any grid row, a dialog box will popup to let you enter translation.
[Context] : This will point out the context in which the text in Comodo firewall appears and will also point if there is limitation on tanslated text length.
[English Text] : Text that is to be translated
[English Text Length]: In case of limitation on number of charaters, this field can be guiding point.
[Translation] : This will be the only editable edit box where you have to enter translation.
[Translated Text Length] : As you type in tanslation, this field will show how many chars you have actually typed, which may be useful in case there is a restriction on number of characters.
Getting translation done through tool will enable us to adhere to standard translation format and we will not have to mess with Excel.
I am expecting to give all the users files to be translated with the tool tomorrow.
Thanks for showing co-operation.
That sounds great! ;D
Hi guys,
