Virus Signature Update

Well apart from the fact that your round-trip times are higher then mine 20ms vs 111ms there is a connection, 51% suggests that the downloads should already been finished and CIS is merging databases but just to be sure can you check this…

Original post here The only way to determine what's going on is to use a network packet sniffer. Can you download Nirsofts SmartSniff here: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/smsniff.html

If you start that (as administrator) hit F9 and select your network adapter, press the green Play button and go to CIS, check for AV updates and after the failure press the red Stop button.

Now look for something like this:

GET /av/updates311/versioninfo.ini HTTP/1.1
Accept: */*
User-Agent: COMODO Internet Security
Connection: Keep-Alive
Cache-Control: no-cache
Host: eu1.download.comodo.com

[9/8/2009 8:06:57 AM:893]
HTTP/1.1 200 OK
Server: nginx
Date: Tue, 08 Sep 2009 06:06:56 GMT
Content-Type: application/octet-stream
Content-Length: 77
Last-Modified: Tue, 08 Sep 2009 03:37:30 GMT
Connection: keep-alive
Keep-Alive: timeout=5
Accept-Ranges: bytes

[VersionInfo]
MaxAvailVersion=2247
MaxDiff=150
MaxBase=2234
MaxDiffLimit=150

In the second block you see the servers response code HTTP/1.1 200 OK i suspect you get an other code there…

In your case you have to look a little further and see if you can find HTTP responses that are not 200 OK or 302 MOVED. more like 4xx and 5xx responses...

I found an easier work-around.

 1. Uninstall Comodo Anti-virus but keep the firewall
 2. Install Avira AntiVir Personal

This seems to have solved my problems!
