Virus DB IS Latest however a virus I have cannot be dealt with ?

???Hi folks I am new to this forum so a little help and clarification would be great.

Comodo has detected the following two virus , this morning .

Backdoor.win32.pcclient~a97069927

Backdoor.win32.pcclient~a

Comodo attempts to quarantine them however it fails .

When I look on this forum it seems that this virus has already been dealt with by previous virus data bases .So my question is why isnt the lates version sorting out the virus.

I am reluctant to pay for live support for a year until I know that this Security suite works. Its only been running 2 days and already I am a little sceptical .

Anyone who has any ideas would be much appreciated.

you should use anyway a second (on demand) scanner, as cis sometimes shows false positives.
the smallest, and one of the best programs is this
Download Malware Removal 2023 | Free Antivirus Scan & Virus Protection Tool (dont think 4mb couldnt be enough, you will be surprised;)
load the free version, update it (make the settings), and i am sure you will get rid of that virus if you have any.
another free antivirus, but ready for “single using” including a guard, is avira personal free edition. the key to run a program efficient, is the setting (for example: expert mode enabled in avira, to be able to make all the possible settings)
Download Security Software for Windows, Mac, Android & iOS | Avira Antivirus

DONT forget: to erase a (real) backdoor trojan does NOT mean automatically that you closed the open backdoor! in doubt a reinstall of the operating system (after a format) could be the best thing to do. because no one knows what this trojan has already changed through this remote door.

Where is the virus located? If it is part of a restore point, then many AV can’t delete. Turn off system restore which delete all restore points, then turn back on.

Cheers

I have just completed a scan for viruses using comodo and nothing has been detected ?

It is still showing in the log from previous ?

Does this mean the virus is no longer a threat ?

I dont want to reinstall the O/S as I did that 4 days ago and this is why I picked Comodo to look after that O/S.

Should I download another standalone virus remover and see what that does.

If I do how do I disable the Comodo virus scan so as it does not conflict

Thanks for your help so far folks …

use an on demand scanner, then you dont have conflicts. as i told you, use antimalwarebytes free version (link see above).
if you have a virus on your pc after 4days of reinstall, then definitely something is wrong (with your harddrive boot sector, or with a memory stick, or with your internet behaviour, or with the scan of comodo).

a backdoor trojan gives the attacker the chance to do on your pc what he wants. this changes DONT have a flag “made by virus”. so this changes will not be fixed by an antivirus. if this backdoor was active, your machine may not be yours anymore.

if you really dont want to make a reinstall, use at least another antivirus for testing.
i would not trust the machine anymore.
try to find out, how the infection happened.
backdoors are serious.

btw, your setting of the comodo cis may not be good, as otherwise you wouldnt have been infected. if this virus is still in quarantine, send it to comodo for analysis (inside that window).
