Virtual kiosk not starting and then virus definitions are gone

(You can move this whereever appropiate).
Virtua kiosk worked at the beginning but now it only shows the window VK is strating and the only way to get rid of it is to reboot. After reboot CIS says thet virus definions are never updated and I must update them. I removed the Dragon icon from desktop, Ihope it is not a reason for this. I can still start applications like IE in virtual mode.

On the very system I am typing this (Win 8 x86) it takes approxximately 5 minutes to start up kiosk.

How did you install v6? Did you install it over v5 or did uninstall v5 first?

I have waited long periods for the kiosk also, sitting at the virtual kiosk screen and it never loads either. I have win8 pro x64 quad core intel 2.5ghz 8 gigabytes of ram.7200 rpm 1gig WD Black HD. What i have found is if you have this problem just sign out of windows and sign back in when it hangs. then once you have signed back in open cis6,reset the sandbox and launch the virtual kiosk again. this should work instead of rebooting. At least it works for me. i am going to start resetting the sandbox first every time then launching the virtual kisok to see if it gets rid of this hanging virtual kiosk stuff.

Dragon was not working either. So i downloaded the installation file and repaired it. Then I reinstalled CIS over the old v.6. (installer did not notice it was already installed). But nothing helped.
No I did a clean install of CIS 6 first, but I have had earlier versions installed earlier so old remnants can exist in my system.
I will try to reset the sandbox.

Thanks, this helped. I had not really undertood the reset sandbox option meaning. I thought it resets itself after every reboot.

Hi, I have the same problem. Kiosk do not start. I have Comodo Pro 2013. Is there any solutions? I have W8 64b. I made clean install Comodo 6.

All i can say is i have been trying to narrow it down for comodo for many days on two PC’s both with windows 8 x64 Pro. One intel and one Amd quad core. I have been working daily with a comodo dev on this particular bug with windows 8, We know your frustration. The best idea is before starting the kiosk reset your sand box every time. If the virtual kiosk hangs just sign out of windows 8 and sign in. then reset your sandbox, then start virtual kiosk and it will work without rebooting. Sometimes you will be forced to reboot. We are trying as hard as possible can to squish this bug…So far the reboot has been fixed
am running a test build right now and the virtual kiosk still hangs somtimes but resetting the sandbox fixes it
with no reboots on this build i am running.
I have a very detailed formatted bug report filed that you can find in the the formatted bug reports section.
If you have anything to add please update that section. Unless a moderator has a different idea. I would reply to my bug report say you can reproduce it. give your os win 7 or 8 or vista. etc all reasonable details. whether uac is on or off. Bug report link is below.

I am sorry for my English. I restored my W8 from backup today. I do not know why Kiosk do not work because he worked when I made backup whole PC.

This does not work on my PC.

the best idea is before starting the kiosk reset your sand box every time. If the virtual kiosk hangs just sign out of windows 8 and sign in. then reset your sandbox, then start virtual kiosk and it will work without rebooting. Sometimes you will be forced to reboot.

When I reset sandbox and start Kiosk, Kiosk still hangs, 5 or 10 minutes - then I reset sandbox, because then I am very angry:).

I do not understand one more things. My other PC had problem with Kiosk too. But when I disable HIPS, Kiosk worked. Today and on another PC not and I do not why.

If you do not Sign out of Windows and Sign Back in. Just resetting the Sandbox will not work.

Sign out of Windows 8 when kiosk hangs.Don’t reboot.
Sign back in and reset sandbox then run virtual kiosk.
That should work.Sometimes which they have fixed so far it gets really nasty and you have to reboot…

I know what you mean but it does not work on my PC. Actually then it is not even reset the sandbox. Reset sandbox hangs now on my PC (it takes about 8 minutes now…, I will reboot PC).

I have forwarded a link to the dev showing our forum discussion here to to dev i have been working with…
Are your virus definitions gone too? i see the topic above here.look up. i run avast with Comodo 6 so please explain what you are running. the dev may contact you.

Reboot. Login. Reset sandbox and try virtual kiosk. From what we have found it can get really nasty and you have to reset the sandbox when it hangs. Reboot. Login, reset the sandbox again and then run the virtual kiosk.
in other-words we have discovered that resetting the sandbox doesn’t always properly/fully clean out the sandbox correctly.

I am sorry for my English again. My virus databases are recent (probably). On this PC I have CIS PRO 2013.

It does not work for me. I still cannot launch Kiosk. He still hangs.

all i can say is that i have forwarded this forum thread to the developer i have been working with. Sometimes. you hear from them on weekends. Generally not. Have you actually purchase Cis 6 Already? That’s why your hiding your license key?? I thought the 30 day promo was running and cis can’t be purchased yet?
Are there actual license keys out now??

Thank you. I solved this problem with Geekbuddy before 2 weeks and he cannot solved it. He recommend to contact support. I contacted them but the problem is still the same.

Hello. This bug doesn’t seem to be gone yet, I’m having trouble with the Virtual Kiosk as well. I’ve tried resetting Sandbox and rebooting, but it didn’t do the trick. It usually took 5 seconds to load, but now it’s just stuck on the splash screen. I’m using CIS PRO if it matters in any way.

My problem is still not solved too.

CIS now acted like it has been freshly installed (detected “new” Network, splash screen when starting windows). Can that be because I changed the Configuration to Proactive?
