Very disappointed

Because i have been using Commodo internet security for years happily i decided this year to pay for a subscription to it since i like supporting developers.

Apparently this was a mistake in this case.

1: After signing up to the subscription 15 days later I started getting a countdown popup that constantly minimized, interfered with and/or crashed everything i was doing every 30-60 minutes.

2: the next month same thing happened except instead of every 30-60 minutes it was approximately every 2 hours …

3: About a week ago my Commodo started popping up "your system is in danger since your Commodo Internet Security Complete has expired.

4: when i “chatted " with someone on geekbuddy about these issues as they were happening i was told in very polite terms " tough shit if you don’t want the popup every month buy it by the year”

5: When i called the support number today to ask why i was getting the subscription over message they tried to get me to log into the chat instead and hung up when i refused.

Finally i attempted to send an email to PCsecurity@comodo.com as was listed in my original purchase email … only to get a “Sorry, no mailbox here by that name. (#5.1.1)” return from Commodo servers …

FYI Despite what the geekbuddy people try to tell me
“selective startup” is NOT a normal boot configuration in msconfig for windows XP so if they can’t even resolve a simple problem like that why are they doing support for Commodo?

So much for auto renewable subscription.

At this point i can not recommend to anyone to “purchase” Commodo internet security since the “support” and the devs are apparently in no way communicating.

This post is a last resort since all other avenue’s have failed including the phone number listed in my purchase email.

sorry about that :frowning:

obviously we need to learn better to support the people who support us.

Pls PM me with your details so that I can try to get this sorted!

my apologies on behalf of Comodo :frowning:

Melih

Thanks for your obviously prompt response to my extreme frustration,
Soon after i posted, the issue with the “expired” resolved itself … sadly it auto enabled the ■■■■ defense plus again which constantly interferes with legitimate gaming.

What details do you need other then what i posted?

Personally i’m not big on apologies i’m more of a results type.

the results i’m looking for is NO MORE SUB WARNING POPUPS minimizing/crashing everything else thats running fullscreen at the time the ■■■■ popup happens. I understand the need for warnings … i do … but unless there is a virus or an attack there is no reason to pop up always on top. And seriously, a 15 day countdown EVERY month on a monthly auto subscription??? Shouldn’t i ONLY get that warning if the CC bounced a NSF ? Same for the scanner. I know my scanner is set to go off every day with a different job each day and full scan 2 days a week … i don’t need it popping up in the middle of my game crashing the game/minimizing it to desktop or forcing me to close the game uncheck “always show on top” box and restart game. In fact there is no reason for me to have to constantly uncheck that box EVERY scan. Every major update sure i can see it resetting … but every day EVEN when the computer hasn’t been shut down/sleep in a week?

Since gamers ARE the most prolific internet users and they have to disable/shut down firewalls/antivirus/antimalware scanners more often then not in order to play their games … check a few game sites at random one of the first thing "support " tells users is disable firewall if they cannot get online play or antivirus if the game keeps freezing and crashing. Simply put the gamers are at the most risk not just because they are the first target but because av/firewall products are NOT game friendly.

To my internet/computer savvy friends and fellow gamers i have been saying for years use Comodo because you can edit the settings to allow the game exe without having to put the entire game folder at risk. So when the opportunity for me to support Comodo came along i figured why not?

At this point all i can say is tell the geekbuddy people they need to fire the idiots, stop assuming the end user knows less then you do even if most of them do and DO YOUR RESEARCH.
Oh and the geekbuddy chat system and service adds 5 minutes to my boot time …figure that out.

Mad

you are right. this monthly countdown is a bit of an ill thought bug.
we are fixing it in the next release.

sorry about that.

Good to hear Melih. It shows you and Comodo listen to the end users.

Thank you.
The geekbuddy people just kept repeating i should buy my sub yearly …fast way to ■■■■ off someone who is testing the software for other people

The countdown itself is a good idea for a yearly sub … except the fact it constantly pops up and freezes/crashes/minimizes anything you have going in fullscreen mode and theres no option to not show it again till next cycle. But as you mentioned for a monthly its rather ill thought out in its current state.

totally agree…

will be changed…

thanks Melih, for visiting the forums, comodo is a great, :-TU

It’s the same problem everywhere. You always end up with some Indian or Polish guy who doesn’t even understand english properly and they tend to offer and do everything but what you need. I’ve seen similar nonsense with iYogi and apparently GeekBuddy is not immune either…

Thats absolutely insulting!!! :-TD

Someone needs to be disciplined :-TU

Have you tried using Game Mode?

That’s the reason why i don’t use paid version even when i own one since geek buddy is so annoying instead of helping it creates a mess and yes it does make start-up slow
Why not develop something that is user friendly as team viewer

If you have a paid version, can you opt-out of GeekBuddy?

i dont think so i just disabled geekbuddy/livepcsupport from startup and disabled the service.

You forget these are people who actually think they know more about the computer then the person on the other end EVERY time they open a chat window. And to be honest i have no problem admitting that my knowledge is entirely specialized end user And geek buddy did (sortof) help me with an issue i was having although they never completely fixed the issue. My computer randomly switched languages to Filipino a couple months back and has not worked correctly since. I had a friend on the phone walk me trough the steps (23 down in that menu) to get US english back so i could USE it well enough to contact geekbuddy and really try them out for the first time. my system still not functioning since then but i got frustrated trying to talk to them when they kept saying things like “selective startup is normal” and couldn’t answer the question of "why does “boot normally load me into safe mode?” interesting paid support … sadly i don’t have the time or another computer currently in order to do a fry/reinstall of windows on this one.

hee hee… yeah and this results in another annoying popup every reboot…

nope i dont get any popups on reboot

does game mode stop the pop ups?

Interesting… when i disable the service and startup of geekbuddy i get an “omg you must reinstall this right away” error message I’f i have time and am not to lazy … and remember to do it … i’ll ss it next time i restart/logoff so prolly not before a few more days

yes it just constantly crashes the games/fullscreen apps because d+ STILL blocks trusted files from access which appears to be causing memory leakage from constant requests(just a guess)

rebooted yesterday took screen shot of error and can’t seem to upload the jpg
