With the new 3.8 version, I start the Windows Live Mail application (Build 12.0.1606) and it creates a custom firewall rule. All is happy.
But if I change that policy to the predefined “Email Client” policy, it no longer connects. I used to run version 3.5 as “Email Client” and had no problems. If I remove the predefined policy and let it create its own custom policy again, all is well.

I have never changed mine to ‘predefined’, always left it at custom. Works, never gave it a second thought.
I have just read here that people recommend giving web browsers the predefined web browser policy, so I assumed that giving an email client the predefined policy for that would be a good idea as well.
Turns out with 3.8, that causes the client to not connect.
Maybe it is in the settings this client uses vs the predefined settings in the firewall?
Could be. I’m just reporting that something has changed from 3.5 to 3.8.
