VD Unable To Start When Notebook Plugged In But Works On Battery [M929]

A. THE BUG/ISSUE (Varies from issue to issue)
[ol]- Summary - Give a clear summary in the topic subject, NOT here.

  • Can U reproduce the problem & if so how reliably?:
    Yes, everytime
  • If U can, exact steps to reproduce. If not, exactly what U did & what happened:
1:Install CIS, let it run its Quick Scan, and Restart Computer
2:When trying to launch VirtualDesktop, when the laptop is plugged in, there is only logo of VD with circle - sometimes, it stays there for a very long time (till killing it) or it opens Libraries folder in Windows Explorer, occasionally it launches but immediately switches off and opens the Libraries folder in Windows Explorer
3:When the laptop is running on battery VD runs normally, even when AC is plugged again after it is started.
4:After closing VD and trying to run it on AC - point 2 is repeated
    4:resetting the sandbox doesnt help
  • If not obvious, what U expected to happen:
Virtual Desktop should start normally when laptop plugged in
  • If a software compatibility problem have U tried the conflict FAQ?:
    NA
  • Any software except CIS/OS involved? If so - name, & exact version:
    No

Thank you for reporting this. Just to be sure, is this the method you took before installing this build?

If so then please also create and attach a diagnostics report to your first post. To do that open up the main CIS GUI. Then left-click on the question mark icon near the upper right side. Then select Support and then Diagnostics. This will run the diagnostics and then offer you the option to have it create a diagnostics report. Have it make a diagnostics report. Then attach this report to your first post.

Also, once that is done, there is one more piece of information which the devs will likely need. To get this open the CIS main GUI. Then flip the screen to the Tasks side. Then open the Advanced Tasks section and left-click on “Watch Activity”. This will download and run KillSwitch. Once it is running right-click on any of the running processes. From the drop-down menu select “Create Dump” and then “Create Full Dump”. After that is done you will need to upload that file to a file sharing site, such as this one. Then paste the download link in your first post.

Let me know once you have finished with that, or if you have any questions. I am absolutely willing to help.

Thank you.

PM reminder sent.

Yes, it was that method

Here is the link to Full Dump on batteries: btplayerctrl.exe.dmp — Yandex.Disk

And Full Dump when on AC: Oops!

Thank you. I have updated your first post again. Please look it over and make sure everything is correct.
Also, when did you make the Full Dump for the computer running on batteries? Was VD running in the background?
Also, please provide the specs for your laptop. This may be important as it’s possible this is specifically related to the hardware.

Once you answer those questions, assuming everything else in the first post is correct, I can forward this to the devs.

Thanks.

VD wasn´t running when FullDump was created, I can create it again when I´ll be at home today.

How accurate laptop specifications do you need?

I can give you short specifications, more accurate later:

Acer Aspire 4830TG
CPU: Intel Core i5 2450M
GPU: nVidia GeForce 540M (I think)
RAM: 8GB

I think that should be enough information. If any more is needed either myself or the devs can contact you.

Thank you very much for your report in standard format, with all information supplied. The care you have taken is much appreciated by Comodo, and will increase the likelihood that this bug can be fixed.

Developers may or may not communicate with you in the forum or by PM/IM, depending on time availability and need. Because you have supplied complete information they may be able to replicate and fix the bug without doing so.

Many thanks again.

Well, new information: For now, the VD on batteries starts, but after the cursor moves, or after one click (and without any action it turns off too after few seconds) it turns off and the Library folder opens. Very strange :o

More Accurate PC configuration:

I dont know, maybe some drivers are in conflict or what, but I had problems with VirtualKiosk before on this computer. Even the OS reinstallation due to SSD upgrade didn´t helped. I´ll try to get full driver list installed, when I find out how to do it.

And the FullDump for VD not running even on batteries (I dont know why I am unable to edit previous post): btplayerctrl Batteries - VD doesnt start.dmp — Yandex.Disk

And the last one for today - full driver list: Drivers List.html — Yandex.Disk

Thank you for this new information. I have updated the first post and the tracker.

As for not being able to edit posts, that is because when reports are moved to this part of the forum they are restricted such that posts cannot be edited. It’s just a limitation.

Thanks.

Ou, and a little bit correction:

“A Full Dump (made with KillSwitch while laptop plugged in and the loading screen is hanging) can be downloaded from this page:” VD wasn´t running/hanging that time - sorry I didn´t noticed that while chcecking that corrected post.

Thanks for pointing that out. Would it be possible for you to make a Full Dump while it is hanging? This may contain important information which the devs may need.

Thanks.

Link to FullDump when VD hanging on AC: btplayerctrl AC - VD hanging.dmp — Yandex.Disk

Isn’t the first dump in your first post for the same situation? If not, have I labeled something incorrectly?

Thanks.

The last added FullDump is for VD hanging on AC (with logo).

Then what was the first one for? Sorry, I want to make sure I passed on the correct information to the devs.

The last one FullDump (latest link in my posts), I have added, was for VD hanging

So is that essentially a duplicate of the first link in your first post? If so, would you like to provide both to the devs, even though they represent essentially the same situation? Am I misunderstanding?

Thanks.

No, the first link is without VD hanging while the FullDump was created. The only VD hanging situation is this: btplayerctrl AC - VD hanging.dmp — Yandex.Disk

For now I am unable to make VD hanging because of, for now it everytime starts up and then immediately closes and the Library folder appears (on batteries and on AC too).
