Vampires The Masquerade - Bloodlines + GTX295 + Vista

I just installed VTM Bloodlines in my gaming PC:

Specs:

video card: nVIDIA GTX 295

OS: Vista 32bit Ultimate

Ram: 4GB, 3GB usable due to Vista being 32bit

It runs fine. In fact, all 3D stuff within the VTM Bloodlines gaming world are top notch. However, a lot of the 2D stuff in the game world has turned pixelated beyond recognition. Your life bar and blood bar should have bubbles going up, right? Well, it doesn’t. A lot of posters and pictures on walls and such in the game world are too pixelated, it reminds me of the graphics of the very first DOOM.

Don’t get me wrong. It is still very much playable. I just wish that the 2D resolution within the game would be as refined as the 3D.

Things I have tried to solve this 2D issue: Tried running the game in XP compatibility mode, tried out disabling and enabling the options in the compatibility tab in different combinations. Nothing works. Ofcourse I tried all these as administrator.

Perhaps someone would be so kind as to point me to a patch or something? I have patched VTM Bloodlines to the official 1.2v.

That’s not the Vista’s problem but VTM Bloodlines’s.
The official patch and XP compatibility for VTM Bloodlines can’t take care of it.

Solution.
Download following files and install.

1.Unofficial patch for VTM Bloodlines(it has an official patch in it)
http://www.filefront.com/13277430/Vampire-The-Masquerade---Bloodlines-v6.0-Patch/

2.Resolution patch.(only install if unofficial patch doesn’t fix it)

Thanks.

What you said confirms this: http://www.gamespot.com/pages/forums/show_msgs.php?topic_id=27081515&msg_id=317135699

Not at all.

Do you like the horror games?
Don’t miss Fear, Fear2, Left 4 Dead.
(Left 4 Dead II - available Nov 17.2009)

No, not really. Though horror games are a nice genre.

I feel like good wholesome games will do me a lot of good.

All the games I have are all about conquering and violence and death and bleh.

Spore sounds nice but I don’t believe in evolution.

Then there are the kiddie games…with obvious ■■■■■■ innuendos…ugh.

Then again I may be clinging on to something that I am just naturally growing out of…I’m 30 after all.

Not that I am saying I won’t be a gamer anymore.

By the way, why shouldn’t I get the latest 6.5 Wesp unofficial patch? You said get the 6.0 patch

Because sombody put his own some dialogues in the game.
(It’s a stupid move)
That’s 6.5 patch.
You don’t need to use it.
That’s why I said use 6.0.

Do you grow out of gaming?

I dunno.

Ehhhmmmaybe not, heheheh…

Full description of 6.0 unofficial patch:
This update brings Activision’s Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines retail game to v6.0 and addresses a number of known issues, gameplay tweaks, bug fixes and so forth.
Read the full description
This is an unofficial patch for Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines by Troika Games. It’s a cumulative patch containing all the previous patches and is intended for english retail or Direct2Drive versions! Applying this patch to a version in another language will work also, but all texts in the game previously appearing in that language will be replaced by the english versions with the exception of the menus. To install the patch extract this archive into the game folder using options that keep the directory structure intact and overwrite every file of the same name. Removing it is only possible by reinstallion. This patch fixes many bugs, restores unused content and mods some of the game to improve the consistency of the presented world. It ought to be installed right on top of the Troika Games official patch 1.2. More basic changes are listed first in the version history, then bug fixes and more. It is recommended to start a new game after patching to avoid odd behaviour. Patching also resets all options to default. Both editors used for the creation of this patch are included in the vdata directory. Many thanks go to Turvy for VPKTool and RobinHood70 for BSPEdit. Everything else can be done using a normal text editor. Tips and Tricks: When using the console, be sure to activate it from the menu only. To reinstall clean up registry and remove vtmb.ini from /windows. On start crashings force refresh rate override or use -dxlevel 80. If you experience stutter on dual core systems turn one core off. Don’t save or leave maps with disciplines active to avoid crashes. At high Obfuscate levels use attack to stealth kill without fail. When controls are sticky start the game in Win98 compability mode. Have four empty inventory slots when taking Imalia’s Tawni quest. If you can’t read papers re-bind “use” away from the mousebuttons. To avoid crashes don’t play sounds with the Windows Media Player. If a container auto-closes right-click the objects to choose them. Enemy death may open doors and give items, which Trance does not. Some feed victims stay in Trance so don’t bite quest-related ones. Occasionally Beckett stays in wolf form when meeting him, reload. Game may crash in cutscenes if you are Obfuscated, so turn it off. If you experience random attacking bind attack away from “enter”. Rarely your appartment may get full of strange stuff, just reload. If a cutscene freezes try reload or type frenzyplayer in console. When getting problems with a history during the tutorial, skip it. v6.0 (+) denotes changes to plus pack +Added Tremere Dominate tutorial info and repaired all clan CD email. +Repaired Heather remembrance dialogue and Gary’s poster quest bugs. +Made Ventrue enemies use disciplines and SWAT in armor not biteable. +Added quest logs for Giovanni candidates and for the final endgame. +Restored security guard and a sequence into the Skyeline Apartments. +Made Romero pimpin quest available after zombie and fixed firearms. Set the date of the game to 22.10.2004 and fixed minor text issues. Added option to pay Vandal in case you can’t find him a replacement. Restored two Asylum emails and added Johansen to Empire suite list. Swapped an unique quest car at Giovanni’s and repaired it’s texture. Restored erotic situations for the downtown, Hollywood and SM hubs. Moved library card to locked Empire room and fixed Chunks attacking. Added subtitles for the remaining conversations, thanks to Voerman. Stopped Copper from leaving for infusion and improved selling order. Repaired Nadia’s “c’mon” sequence, speaker names and a door handle. Restored Ventrues to tower using females and Toreadors as variation. Swapped wrecks on Blood Hunt map and added missing bar-break sound. Fixed quest log update and xp gain on reaching Ming’s inner sanctum. Made sweeper and Bertram Tung use disciplines if they are attacked. Restored censored blood for intro and added some to the Hallowbrook. Fixed pony tail of Kerri and glasses of Mandarin, thanks to MooCha. Removed not working blood return when fighting against the Tzimisce. Prevented gaining surplus xp by spoiling multiple Giovanni secrets. Restored Dima and clinic guard text and removed a model at junkyard. Fixed several bad particle files for magic fires and other effects. Made Leatherface and Drifter player histories more likely to frenzy. Added radio transcripts, thanks ellipsis_jones and gothemasticator. Restored two Ocean House ghosts and Hellcat plus forklift sequences. Removed Fu Syndicate lobby keypad code to avoid breaking the level. Included official patch 1.2 files because official VTMB site closed.

Holy ■■■■! That’s a lot of issues.

You sure 6.5 suck eggs?

Also, I tried using 6.5 unofficial patch as suggested in the GameSpot Forum.

It solved my original issue of all 2D elements in the game appearing too pixelated.

So I was ecstatic at the graphics the GTX295 is giving me with VTM Bloodlines now that both 3D and 2D elements are higher res.

Until I found out that my vamp couldn’t feed on any NPCs in the HUB areas of the game, not even rats. Vision of death don’t kill nobody and somehow I can affect rats with Mass Hallucination.

That was just weird.

This is the sequence of what I did:
OS: Vista 32
RAM:4GB with only 3GB usable due to Vista being 32 bit.
CPU Core2Duo

 1. I installed the VTM -Bloodlines and copy my old 1.2 official patch saved games into it.

 2. I applied the 1.2 official patch.

 3. I load my latest saved game and I notice the low resolution of all 2D graphics in the game and post a new topic.

 4. I get Wesp’s latest unofficial patch from http://www.patches-scrolls.de/vampire_bloodlines.php as instructed.

 5. I install said unofficial patch, choosing the Plus option over the Basic one.

 6. I play the game and the graphics are way cooler now that even the 2D elements in the game are higher res.

 7. I try stuff in the game, see the new things the unofficial patch has done.

8. I try to get my character to feed in the HUB areas of the game…lo and behold, you can’t feed on any NPC, not even on rats!!!

Tried Visions of Death on NPCs and they don’t die, whether they be humans or rats. But Hysteria works.

I can apply Mass Halucination on rats. I can’t remember ever doing any discipline on rats before.

9. I try playing a new game and is pleasantly surprised at the added new “history” options you can choose when creating your character.

 1. I try feeding in the tutorial area of the game (which resembles the HUB areas, only I am not sure if it is a HUB area) and my character is able to feed on humans and rats.

 2. I reinstall the unofficial patch, this time choosing the Basic option over the Plus, hoping that it would fix this issue. It doesn’t.

How I can fix this new problems?

Sure.

1.install the VTM -Bloodlines.
2.apply unofficial patch 6.0.

Roger roger.

I am reading up on this VTMB as i am having issues as well with windows 7. In case anyone is interested, i will be applying what i have seen here and post any help and/or solutions i may find.

I am still having issues with VTMB. Here are my system specs:

Core 2 Duo E6400 1.8 ghz (not overclocked)
gforce 9600gt 512 (by Zotac)
4 gigs of 667 Ram
Creative soundblaster x-fi extreme gamer
Windows 7 ultimate 64bit (yes it’s activated and registered)
500 Watt 32Amp psu
22" LCD

All drivers are updated, save for maybe the bios.

My computer is clean and very free of dust. Also have 185 gigs of free space.
I have installed VTMB in programfiles x86 and so far have tried compatibilty with windows xp service pack 2 , windows 98 and vista service pack 2. I have also removed 1 cpu in the set affinity option. Set it to cpu1.
Have updated to patch 1.2 and then to 6.0 with the plus option. Graphics are alot better than with 1.2 patch. I have deleted all save games and restarted a new one.

My issue is the game will crash by shutting down my screen. It goes black and says no signal. The pc will then no longer respond. Acts as if the gpu over heats, which it doesn’t. The only solution is a reboot by pressing the power down button and turning the pc back on. Also have this issue with Godfather 2.
Another weird issue is once i start the game, i must do alt+tab to exit the laoding screen and then i return to the loading screen, otherwise the game wont boot. The screen will stay black.

I play other games with no issues at all, like need for speed shift, wolfenstein and resident evil 5. Run em easily on high settings with 1680x1050 for hours on end. If nothing helps, a fresh reinstall and update to 6.0 may be my next option.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank u in advance.

Much obliged megadeth600.

On the update on VTMB in my case:

The unofficial patch 6.0 didn’t solve the, “My vamp can’t feed in HUB areas” problem, as well as the visions of death not making anyone in HUB die. More like, visions of, “what’s that? I’m bored and walk away and will not die.”

Methinks I am doomed to re-play VTMB as Malkavian from the start, if I am to use the unofficial patches. Or I can continue playing with the 1.2 official patch only, and suffer through all the ugly low-res 2D elements in the game.
