URL resolving for connections

Hi,

I like the feature of inspecting current connections. Since CIF accepts URL as filter parameter, why not enable solving names for IPs in connections screen? Or can it be done somehow already?

Another question is: I have read that the reason for not being able to use wildcards in URLs is because FW needs an IP to work with. I don’t get it. URL needs to be decrypted into IP anyway. So DNS activity is something that is already happening. Why can’t it be done like this:

CIF looks up what URL is registered to IP and compares the URL to rules and acts accordingly?

Not as efficient performance-wise as straight IPs, but URL is not something you would use in normal situations anyway, but things like windows update are PITA to set up with without URLs.

Or are wildcards such as * or ? already supported?

Thank you in advance.

It’s not possible. I think it has been requested before in Wishlist - CIS.

I don’t think that’s possible.

It sounds like something for the wist list.Shall I move your topic there?

Yes please, did not know there was such a forum here.

Kerio 2.1.5 has an option to display url names instead of IPs. Or is my memory totally wrong?

How is this possible:
