Updating Programs Populates "MY Own Safe Files"

It seems like every time I update a program through its internal updater (usually Firefox and Adobe Reader), the procedure fills up “My Own Safe Files” and I have to go through and delete all of the temporary files that have been added. You can’t shift>select either, you have to check each individual box for removal. What a pain when there’s a whole lot of unwanted additions! Makes me sad…

I always update with the Sandbox disabled and choose “Treat as Installer or Updater” when D+ prompts.

This happens when files created by a signed installer from a trusted company are not themselves signed, I am afraid, and cannot be over-ridden in this version of CIS. (The option to over-ride is there is the GUI but does not function. This is a known issue and we are told it will be fixed in the next major version).

Sorry for the hassle.

Oh PS

You should find that the .tmp files disappear on reboot, if the installer cleans up after itself!

Do you mean that those temp files are removed from “My Own Safe Files” on reboot, or just that they are removed from my HDD on reboot? I do know that they are removed from my system. I’m just commenting on CIS storing them in “My Own Safe Files”.

Files that are removed from your drive should be removed from My Safe Files on reboot.

Thanks. I’ll check this out the next time I update a program!

Upon reboot, the files that are removed from my system still show up in My Own Safe Files and I still have to remove them manually. I can live with it until the next version. It’s just an annoyance. :-\

Thanks for this. This is now on the bug/issue tracking system.
