Unstressed computer 2G RAM, onstantly slowing due to dateapplications.exe using excess of 50-60% of RAM on a virtually constant basis. It “seems” that once Update…exe disappears from Task Manager, everything goes back to normal. New install of latest download and ran updates and cleaning. What to do?
This isn’t a CIS process, i believe its a CSC process.
Do you have it installed?
Yes. I have three Comodos, Internet, System and Backup installed, and, am not quite efficient at Forums. If, as you suspect, it is CSC, and not CIS, then what do I do?
Moved it to the CSC board.
You could try to unstall CSC until this problem is fixed, that should get rid of updateapplications.exe.
Hello,
Please provide us with more information on this issue. Be sure to include:
- Your Operating System (and whether it’s 32bit/64bit);
- Security Software Installed;
- How you produced the problem;
- Screen-shot withTask Manager and the “UpdateApplications” process
- All log files of CSC, if you had logs enabled;
Please try uninstalling CSC, manually delete the folder “COMODO System-Cleaner” in Program Files\COMODO, and then install CSC 2.1.114194.1 again. When you’ll first launch CSC, “UpdateApplications” will also be launched after 1 minute, so please check Task Manager and tell us if the problem still persists.
Thank you for your support.
WILL DO ALL THE RECOMMENDATIONS. As to “making” the problem happen, I have no control. Here it is 3 PM in the afternoon, doing my email, and, suddenly the computer is S-L-O-W. Look in task manager and, yet again, updateapplications.exe is happily chewing up RAM. Wavers between 47% and 53%. Unsought. Unrequested. Unliked. Only way I can tell is when the usually fast computer (even the keyboard) slows.
Hi,
Please don’t forget to mention these details:
- Your Operating System (and whether it’s 32bit/64bit);
- Security Software Installed;
- Screen-shot withTask Manager and the “UpdateApplications” process
- All log files of CSC, if you had logs enabled;
Thank you.
Hi You All
Just had an awful experience, ‘No System Resources available’ ’ No Sockets available’. I swear, think rude thoughts about MS and their inability to write solid OSs. Reboot windows. Everything seems to be functioning as it should. 20 minutes later same thing.
- Your Operating System (and whether it’s 32bit/64bit); XP SP3 32 bit
- Security Software Installed; COMODO Firewall, AVG, Spybot (run as required)
- How you produced the problem; used the computer
- How you tried to resolve the problem; Rebooted
- Screen-shots with the error (if any); None, machine was non-functional
- Post Memory Dumps on crash if you encounter any; None
- All log files of CSC, if you had logs enabled; Sorry, I didn’t
- Any other Additional Information; Extremely stable machine!
I stopped thinking of all the dreadful things that could have happened, unable to access rather expensive software required for work etc. and started to work through the problem.
First step: What’s changed on the machine? Installed COMDO System Cleaner.
Next: is this the problem? Uninstalled Cleaner
Next Rebooted again
Machine now works as it had been. Sorry guys your Firewall is superb but I’ll stick with CCleaner until you can convince me that CSC won’t nobble my computer.
cheers
Hi,
Can you please tell us what version of COMODO System Cleaner are you using? Thank you.
Hi Cassio
I can’t tell you the version number, it was the latest version through Comodo’s home page around early January 2010.
You’re on to the problem, just don’t include me as as a tester.
Cheers
Marc
