I update manually using BOC4UPD.EXE rather than doing it from the right click tray menu. The update apparently completes but is not shown in the tray menu. I must restart BoClean or log off and log on to see the new update date in the tray menu. I am wondering if the update has taken without restarting BoClean. Inotherwords is my BoClean properly updated in this situation even though the tray menu is showing no change? I expect it is but I just wanted to check. Also I’m wondering if a future release would show the update in the tray menu in this situation.
hey david… i follow what you are saying… if you run the updater from the “start”/“all programs” menu, when you look in the BOC menu that pops up from the BOC icon in the systray, it doesn’t reflect the new update… in that case, i don’t know if the new update is actually applied or not, but i would think that it isn’t since BOC shows that it is still using the old malware-database…
one way to fix this “problem” is, in the BOC menu that pops up from the BOC icon in the systray, click “reload/test update”…
the best thing to do is to just run the updater from the BOC menu that pops up from the BOC icon in the systray… rightclick on the BOC icon in the systray and then, in the BOC menu, click “check for update”… then, the new malware-database will be loaded automatically…
Hey thanks,
I didn’t notice that option but sure enough reload updates the date in the popup. Still unsure if the update is “in effect” prior to reload. Thanks.
BTW, the reason I update this way is because I update all my programs that require periodic updates with a bstch file and therefore I only need one command.
