"Update failed. Antivirus engine is not initialized"

I was happily using CAV, until today, when while updating the virus definitions, the computer got restarted due to a power failure, and now, the Anti-Virus gives this error on trying to update.

And also if I try to run the virus scanner it says :
" Could not initialize the scanning engine! Please run the diagnostics utility to check for the problems "

The diagnostics report no problems at all.
I am going to re-install it to try to fix this problem.

Reinstall should do the fix. I think redownloading the av signatures database will do the trick here.

When you haven’t done the reinstall follow Where can i download the latest full AV database?.
