hi . i already downloaded and install the latest release of comodo internet security…
i am having problem when i am trying to update my virus definition it is freezing at 30%…
i already installed the software computability mode on windows vista, and i also change the computability mode of the file (cfpupdat) to vista mode … also but still no use…
please i need help , because really i like this product …
What version of Win7 are you using? CIS does not require compatibility mode any longer. Simply install as Admin.
Also note, the initial AV database is installed after the CIS installation is completed, as a separate install/DL.
This is a large file and will take some time. It appears to hang at 30%, then will eventually jump to 51% and slowly climb to completion.
hi again… i done the same as you told me to do , but still no use it is just freezing at 30% only …
before i used comodo on windows7 build 7000 , and it works great , of course when i set the computability mode to vista …and the update download was much faster…but now on windows 7 rc i am not sure what is the problem…i tried everything including the computability mode…but still no use
It should work without a glitch. On a slow connection the update can take “forever”. I have seen reports of people on dial up taking up to four hrs iirc.
Are there other security programs that may intefere? Make sure Window Firewall is switched off. CIS will not do that.
well i already noticed that the windows firewall was switched on in the same time during the update so i switched off, maybe it will be a solution ,but also no use , so i uninstalled comodo and i installed another security software to see maybe the problem is from the windows it self , but guess what…the other security problem went fine including the update…but honestly till know i am no satisfied because i really like comodo and i use to have it working fine on the beta version of windows7 buidl 7000…by the way i have dsl 256k as speed …and i am not sure what to do ,but in any way thanks for the help and support
and i want to add something , i think they should release a new version made for windows7, so in that case it will be fully compatible with, because windows7 rtm maybe will be soon in the market like the others saying … :-\
Fist of all CIS works like a charm on Windows 7 beta and RC. I have been using Win 7 since february with CIS installed. Heck the beta CIS worked on the beta OS…
Are you willing to do another install of CIS? Then do the following to make sure there are no left overs from Comodo and previously uninstalled security software.
We are gonna take a look to see if there are some old drivers of your previous security programs are still around. Go to Device Manager → View → show hidden devices → now look under Non Plug and Play drivers → when you see a driver that belongs to your previous security programs click right → uninstall —> do this for all drivers → reboot your computer.
When the problem persists make sure there are noauto starts from your previous security programs download Autoruns and run it.
This program finds about all auto starts in Windows. This tool can therefore seriously damage Windows when not handled properly. After starting go to Options and choose to hide Windows and Microsoft entries and then push F5 to refresh.
Now check all entries to see if there are references to your previous security program. When you find them untick them. After unticking reboot your computer and see what happens.
Keep us posted and keep in mind that the initial av database update will take a while and it will stick at 30% for a prolonged period of time.
Hi Guys
Just in case it is of interest to anyone - the latest Comodo release (64-bit version) installs and runs great on Windows7 RC 7100 (64-bit versions)
It also runs just fine on my 32-bit netbook (also win7 7100) having replaced Avast and Windows Firewall
Congrats to the developers on a great release and thank you
hi . thanks for the reply , honestly today i opened my mail , i was little busy , i will do as you told me to do , then i will get back to you with the result , hopefully it will work …
hi again , thanks to all those helped me . for some unknown reason then update of cis works , and i do not know why …but for now it is working …the question how it works… i managed to set the update file computability with vista then it works…after one day i went back again to the update file and i reset it as default and i start the update …it also work…so for now it is working fine…
l hate to tell you that l installed on a xp32 today at yes it was doing a massive update at 30%, so my question is why don’t you guys just update the insyaller…l would have thought telling people on dial-up to just wait for several hours was wrong…also they have old protection guring this time…and you might say l doubt it…but antivirus 2010 got in…as a tech…and infront of the client…l told them how good your product was…they said get it off…thougth please…thankyou…
I am not a Comodo employee. But I think adding the AV database to the installer would make the installer even bigger; that could be a showstopper for people who only want to download for the firewall.
For now there is nothing we can do than wait. Currently Comodo is working very ■■■■■■■ making family signatures that will make the av database smaller. Expect the first clear results in approx 6 weeks. So by the time v4 comes out, not before the end of the year, the AV database in the installer as well as a smaller initial update.
This spring, According to ZD Net, a lot of new malwares came out that defeated the family signatures of all anti malware program makers resulting in more single malware definitions making the updates of all bigger.
Do notice that f.e A Squared anti malware scanner has on an almost weekly basis 40 MB sized updates besides the incremental ones… I guess it is not only CIS having big updates…
But apart from that those big updates are a major sore for people on dial up.
There are a lot of consideration…and atfer reading you post l undewrstand better…but maybe the choice would be good beacause you have top download it anyway…yes? But must say awesome product, just have to learn the ways…as in most product…
