Update Deleted My Backups List!

Hello…

I downloaded the update to Comodo Backup.
Double clicked it, for installing.
I was told, on-screen, to uninstall the older version.
I did.
I installed the newer version.
I did the instructed restart.

Started Comodo Backup and - YEP…the entire list of backups from the upper window had vanished!

Why didn’t it export my backups, so that I could import them into the newer version?

Ian.

G’day,

There is a prompt dunring the installation process to save your settings. They don’t use those exact words, but it is there. I’ve just gone through this cycle and my backup jobs were retained and available to the new version.

Hello…

Thanks for that, but (inevitably) there is another problem, now.

Comodo Backup refuses to uninstall when I use the Remove (etc) from the Control Panel. It’s only around 1 day ago that I could uninstall it and now…for some mysterious reason…I can’t.

When I click on it, in the Remove listing, there is a small amount of disk activity and the Remove window’s border ghosts to pale grey, with the Comodo Backup still black-selected.

Then, I get to sit and stare at a great deal of nothing happening, presumably forever.

Could somebody help me by telling me what I’m doing wrong, again, again?

Ian.

Can you tell what Backup version did you have?
If this was version 1.0.0.1, did you uninstall it before installing newer version?
Discribe unsinstall/install process in details if it is possible.

Hi…

I was using 1.0.0.1, yes.

I downloaded the (current) update to Comodo Backup.
I double-clicked it, for installing.
I was told, on-screen, to uninstall the older version.
I used the Control Panel and uninstalled the old version.
I installed the newer version.
I did the instructed restart.

I started Comodo Backup and the entire list of backups from the upper window had vanished! There was just an empty, white window.

I HAVE NO RECOLLECTION OF BEING GIVEN THE OPTION TO SAVE THE PROFILES, but…to be totally fair, I tend to go through installations at very high speed and I can’t rule out having been offered the chance and having simply not noticed it.

I used System Restore and brought the old profiles back out and into place.

Don’t get me wrong, here. I love the program: the only thing I would like to be able to change is to be able to sheepdog every loose file on all partitions/drives together in one or two backup folders, on several others of those partitions/drives.

Ian.
