Unknown batch file BB'd but not included in unrecognised files [M243]

A. THE BUG/ISSUE (Varies from issue to issue)

  • Can U reproduce the problem & if so how reliably?: Yes happens every time in Win 7 Virtual Machine

  • If U can, exact steps to reproduce. If not, exactly what U did & what happened:
    a. Download and install Hugin panorama stitcher Version: 2012.0.0.a6e4184ad538 from sourceforge.
    b. Go to the assistant tab
    c. Press button ‘1. Load Images’ and select any two image files, then press open
    d. Press button ‘2. Align’
    e. THis causes a randomly named batch file, unknown to CIS, to be created
    f. If HIPS is on you get an execution alert, allow this
    f. You then get a sandbox alert. Click on the link to the file name, it opens unrecognised files
    g. Note the batch file is not in there
    h. Wait until isolation alert closes.
    i. Open unrecognized files from Advanced Settings ~ File rating ~ Unrecognised files and look for the file
    j. The batch file is not there
    k. Check the logs. General tasks ~ View logs. The batch file was sandboxed and has not been found safe.

  • If not obvious, what U expected to happen: File was unknown, so should be in unrecognised files

  • If a software compatibility problem have U tried the conflict FAQ?:

  • Any software except CIS/OS involved? If so - name, & exact version: Hugin panorama stitcher Version: 2012.0.0.a6e4184ad538

  • Any other information, eg your guess at the cause, how U tried to fix it etc:

  • Always attach - Diagnostics file, Watch Activity process list, (dump if freeze/crash). If complex - CIS logs & config, screenshots, video, zipped program (not m’ware)

B. YOUR SETUP (Likely the same from issue to issue, users can copy forward)
[ol]- CIS version & configuration: CIS 6.0 Build 2674, Internet Security.

  • Modules enabled & level. Defense+/HIPS, Autosandbox/BBlocker, Firewall, & AV: All at defaults apart from real time AV is off. Problem occurs whether HIPS is on or off
  • Have U updated (without uninstall) from a previous version of CIS: No
    [li]if so, have U tried a a clean reinstall - if not please do?: N/A
    [/li]- Have U imported a config from a previous version of CIS: No
    [li]if so, have U tried a standard config - if not please do: N/A
    [/li]- Have U made any other major changes to the default config? (egs here.): No
  • OS version, SP, 32/64 bit, UAC setting, account type, & virtual machine used : Windows 7, SP1, 64bit, UAC=off, Admin, Vmware Player
  • Other security & sandbox software a) currently installed b) installed since last OS install: a) None b) None

Developers may or may not communicate with you in the forum or by PM/IM, depending on time availability and need. Because you have supplied complete information they may be able to replicate and fix the bug without doing so.

Thanks for checking this. The tracker has been updated.

The devs have not marked this as Fixed in the tracker. However, sometimes bugs are fixed by the release of new versions, but not marked as Fixed in the tracker.

If you are able please check with the newest version (CIS version 8.0.0.4337) and let me know if this is fixed on your computer with that version.
