I am a new Comodo Dragon user. It is really better than Google Chrome. But there is a big trouble with CD : the updates! For the second update issue, I clicked on “About CD” which showed me an “error - retry” message. Then I tried to download the new version on Filehippo but I could not. So I uninstalled CD and reinstalled it. Fortunately all my datas on the previous version reapeared. So, why is this bug persistent? Is that because of Comodo Secure DNS? What should I do to resolve this major problem? Will I have to uninstall and reinstall CD for getting each new update?! Come on, this is not serious!
A second problem is that several Google Chrome extensions don’t work on CD. For instance, the “Settings” extension from Tejji. If I click on the “chrome://settings/” shorcut, a blank page appears! Same thing with all other shortcuts. I didn’t this problem on Chrome. So, why on CD? How to resolve that?
And finally, I also downloaded the latest version of Firefox, seen the bugs with CD… Though the default search engine is set to Google, each time I research a page on the navigation bar, I get a bug again! Example : if I type “frankenstein” in the navigation bar on FF and click enter, I get a page which says “Comodo Creating trust online. Sorry, “frankenstein” does not exist or could not be found
Suggested results for frankenstein”! I get a very long URL starting with http://nxd.securedns.dns.com/. But no Google search page at all! I guess, the problem is DNS. How can I modify or unactivate it?
I have to precise that I use Comodo Antivirus and Firewall with Comodo Secure DNS. Could the cause of the listed problems above be linked to them?
Mod edit: changed all caps title to normal case. Eric
Hi galeguinho,
The issues with Chrome extensions is solved most times by doing the following.
Try disabling Do not allow websites to know where you came from (suppress HTTP Referrer header) if you have it enabled.
Options, Under the hood, Privacy.
Please check if you have the automatic update enabled in Dragon: Options>Under the Hood.
If the option is enabled, please attach all the “dragon_updater.exe” logs, found at: %windir%\Temp\ComodoLogsFolder.
I tried to follow your advices but seen the lack of success I decided to give it up. I decided to uninstall CD and therefore I’m no longer using it. I chose CoolNovo which also has very good security skills (with incorporated Adblock function for instance) but more great options than CD. And no bug… until now…
But I still gladly use Comodo Antivirus and Firewall which I find absolutely brilliant!
Try a search on your machine for ComodoLogsFolder which holds those CD logs. In any case, you should be able to download the currently available DragonSetup.exe, and run this without first uninstalling the Comodo Dragon currently on your machine; I have done this for the last three revisions of CD with no trouble, maybe be same for you(?)
