I don’t understand how searching the registry can remove this software and put the MBR back to where it was before the install. You don’t mean remove all references to CTM do you? Please explain.
I installed the CTM 2.5 in 4 computers at home (first 10 days ago and last 3 days ago).
I tested all functions (including installing / uninstall) and I have’t mentioned any mallfunction.
Comments and proposals:
-
When I get back to a snapshot (say LAST ) without creating one (manually or automatically) when “Current time”, I’m expect that CTM release memory on disk (occupied by internal CTM logs) between LAST and “Current time”.
These logs must be preserved only if we have a snapshot at “Current time”,
and if we did’t, we can’t back to “current time” anyway.
So, I was forced to run the function "Reset Baseline” to free memory on HDD. -
Uninstalling: when we choose state “Current time”, even when the internal log of the CTM is very large, it should not have much work to do, becouse it should accept the current state and ignore (delete) all logs.
CTM stay too long time at process “Update Date”, unjustifiably. -
Backup:
It would be very useful to save also the MBR and "Partitions Table”.
For the future, would be particularly useful to integrate backup function of drive system,
optional run before CTM installation (like Ghost, Acronis).
With this, CTM would become the first (killer) product in the world. -
My company (which I’m working for) would be interested to test / install the product.
Under the terms of the license, CTM can’t be installed for commercial purposes, what is the solution ?

I don't understand how searching the registry can remove this software and put the MBR back to where it was before the install. You don't mean remove all references to CTM do you? Please explain.I took the impression that you fixed the one computer and wanted to get rid of ALL the remaining CTM traces and be done with it
This is a bump. Would someone from Comodo contact me or post here how I can safely uninstall CTM form my laptop without destroying it?
Added: I was PM’ed by Comodo. They are working on an update that will allow me (and others) to uninstall it. I still don’t understand why they leave the download up when uninstalling it can crash your computer. The responsible thing would be to take it down until they get a fixed version.
I tested Time Machine on three different Windows 7 PCs. What a mistake. After attempting to uninstall, Time Machine destroyed the boot manager, and it was impossible to repair through the Windows 7 installation repair sequence.
This software corrupts the registry–and you can’t get it back.
Dear all, this is just to let you know… (sorry, I am not english)
I did not try to UNINSTALL CTM (!!!) when my system (XP pro) crashed with a blue screen and the message Unmountable_Boot_Volume; this happened, when I tried to reset the baseline to the current system state after about 3 snapshots taken.
Furthermore I did NOT use the XP rec. console to repair my windows as a lot of people already tried - without success.
I used the tool TestDisk (e.g. found on UBCD4Win) to rewrite the MBR and the partition information. - Obviously I had good luck with that. My system was booting up again, WITHOUT CTM prev. coming up before XP. Then I ‘uninstalled’ CTM in windows and cleaned the registry.
I would really appreciate if Comodo would offer more information about bugs and failures of that program on the web as well as in the ctm manual (I read it before installing!!!) instead of just praise it…
Sorry, but in a case like that I really cannot recommend such a program or the name Comodo to my customers any more.
Anyway, good luck to all of you, esp. who still use this program as a backup solution…
With best regards from Germany.

I would be nice to know which hardware systems are safe and are not having uninstalling issues AND which systems are prone to have problems uninstalling at the installation page
If it would help any of you guys out on deciding to unistall (see below if it applys to you), Mine uninstalled just fine. I did it by hitting the F-something key (at bootup) and uninstalled from there

Hi Carfal
I agree with some of what youy say about Masterblaster, BUT your comments smack of the typical Comodo attitude “don’t criticise us - or else”. The guy has had a bad time, and feels bad about it, moreover he feels **ssed off because Comodo does not pull the downloads, does not issue a strong warning along the lines “installing this product may cause problems…”
You do not appear to give any benefit of the doubt, in respect of his concern for others. You seem more concerned about him rocking the boat. Carfal, let me tell you this, Comodo is devekloping a LOUSY reputation for producing unfinished or poorly finished software, and shooting people who criticise Comodo. Look at the latest CIS foul up. Or should I not mention it because no doubt you will say its off topic. AND, please don’t mention that Comodo is free…
I use Comodo firewall & D+, have done for a long time. For how much longer I cannot say.
Tolerance is not Comodos strong point, or perhaps its just doown to certain individuals?
Terry
ps are you now going to pillory me because I support in part someone who criticises Comodo?
Wow. This is some serious stuff here. I know now that the Comodo Time Machine must have had as much to do with my system crash as the Comodo System Cleaner. And when I get my very first post in the forum reporting what happened to me (having been too impatient to thoroughly read this forum before choosing to install these products!) (@@#%$&^^^*!)
< sigh > I find my only reply the next day was that I need a Darwin Award.
My two cents worth here, though, is that the programs do NOT forwarn anyone how gimpy they are, and I never would knowingly download gimpy programs to see what they can do to my computer.
I was not informed by the Comodo Live Help person that this could have anything to do with a problem with either of the Comodo programs, and although they spent a good deal of time online with my computer, in the end it was simply, sorry, you seem to be missing parts of your operating system and may need to reinstall.
This person had to *** KNOW *** about all the grief these programs have caused all these people on this forum!
I am really bummed out now. I don’t know if Comodo Internet Security works good or not, but it seemed the best choice I had at the moment was to stick with at least reinatalling that one after my ‘clean reinstall’ of my computer system. I am going to have a hard time getting behind Comodo unless I feel a different attitude coming back to us about these problems.
There needs to be no time wasted in removing the gimpy programs from further downloads until they are fixed, or at the very least issuing a very strong warning next to the DOWNLOAD button that there is a serious problem here.
I can understand why some may view my posts as complaining. Those would be the ones that didn’t have their computers destroyed by this software. If you did, you would be singing another song.
Nothing could be done to restore the damage this program did. COMODO offered no real help.
I am only here to warn others that mine is not an isolated issue and not to install this software that COMODO refuses to take down. There are many more like me and I don’t want you to be next.
I’m trying to instal AVG after uninstalling commodo and AVG KEEPS instructing me ‘to uninstall commodo’ to proceed??? (I rebooted after each uninstall)
I even went into program files and lo and behold, i found a commodo folder ‘with ■■■■ in it.’ After wipping this shit out I was expecting for AVG to install. NO LUCK! Same instructions from AVG!
I hate this commodo shit!
How can I UNINSTALL THIS TRASH?
THX & od Bless
I wish I could’ve seen this BEFORE I install this *shit comodo trash!:
http://www.howtogeek.com/forum/topic/comodo-uninstall
i’ve commented on c/net about comodo being one of the worse programs and possibly the most uninstalled program ever made. it’s a horrible program and will fight you until the end. c/net loves to push garbage-ware off because it’s sponsored by the maker and they pay them. most comments made on c/net, in my opinion are planted. check out rising antivirus. look at all the 5 star rating on a program that is 100% trash. they all attacked my opinion on the program. i rated it 1 star and called it garbage.
have you tried regedit to remove what’s left of comodo? i’m not a moderator but i understand your problem completely.
I think it should be illegal to supply a product, albeit free, that invades your computer like a virus and worms its way everywhere and amateurs like myself just cannot get rid of it. Comodo should be held responsible to supply a product that can be removed at the press of a key like most downloads. I have since my last post, followed advice supplied on Comodo’s forum and gone into regedit and manually deleted all the registeries that would allow me to. Took me almost an hour and guess what ?.. yes! its still there ! It deleted my internet settings and I had to use system restore yet again. Guess I’m stuck with it unless I get professional help and I don’t suppose Comodo will offer reimbursement. It’s annoying as the laptop is only 4 months old.
Still… guess you get what you pay for with software!
BEWARE of this *shity comodo TRASH!
I have a new problem with CTM. After taking a new baseline, at the re-initialization CTM crashed and would not start after a reboot. I then uninstalled CTM with the idea of re-installing it to get it to work again.
After numerous reboots, the installer always comes up with a message to restart the pc finish the uninstall. Even a windows system restore does not work. How do I get CTM to install again?
The 166 version has a bug that could be easily solved by running a small executable to fix it.
It’s called ClearMulOs.exe and should be sent to you by email from the developers.
AND how do I uninstall this commode???
I will blackball this trashy commode all over the internet!!!
As I can see, CTM is still breaking things instead of protecting them.
But if Comodo thinks the best protection is to destroy system, then by all means, continue in great work so far.
Well, its working fine for me. So, I’m going to keep using it. At least COMODO now knows that there are some issues with it (which should be fixed in the next version or versions).
I have to go along with this. I’ve used it more than most folks would or could. No problems here thankfully
Zero3K:
Have you tried uninstalling an earlier version of CTM?
Just my 2 cents worth, but a company that develops security programs and messes with root directories etc. should be able to prevent at least its own programs from creating such a mess. Does Comodo have a bunch of high school drop outs banging away on the keyboards in the hope something will be stable.
If a program doesn’t work right, at the very least, it should do no harm!

AND what about for the REST of us idiots???
…WE bite THE BULLET???
COMMODE, piece of ■■■■!!!
