Unable to start any Msoft Office 365 64-bit apps (exception 0xc0000005) [M1112]

A. THE BUG/ISSUE (Varies from issue to issue)
Can U reproduce the problem & if so how reliably?:
Yes. Every time - even during install of 64-bit version of Office 365 - perfboost.exe errors on this exception code.
Happens even if firewall, hips, sandbos, and antivirus are in the “disabled” state.

(Installs and runs fine if comodo is uninstalled)

If U can, exact steps to reproduce. If not, exactly what U did & what happened:
1: Install Office 365 64-bit Home version (does not happen with the 32-bit version)
2: Run any Office application (Word/Excel/Powerpoint)

One or two sentences explaining what actually happened:
Office 365 applications fail you start and report exception 0xc0000005.
The error log states AppVIsvSubsystem64.dll as the source of the exception

One or two sentences explaining what you expected to happen:
Excel/Powerpoint/Word should start normally

If a software compatibility problem have you tried the conflict FAQ?:
Not sure what that is - Does not seem relevant and a search did not reveal anything for “conflict faq”

Any software except CIS/OS involved? If so - name, & exact version:
Microsoft Office 365 64-bit (version 15.0.4631.1004)
From the logs, the actual culprit is AppVIsvSubsystem64.dll (version 5.151.36.0)

Any other information, eg your guess at the cause, how U tried to fix it etc:
Problem disappears if Comodo is uninstalled (excel/etc. start fine)
Problem disappears if Microsoft Office 365 32-bit is installed instead of the 64-bit version.
Problem persists if all of the modules of Comodo are disabled.
Based on the error, this is probably some sort of memory-access fault that Comodo limits.

Based on my reading it seems related to https://forums.comodo.com/defense-sandbox-help-cis-b136.0/-t100248.0.html - but that one is not in the Bugs forum, the problem is not restricted to Outlook, and the author does not specify they are using the 64-bit version of Office.

The entry in the Windows/Application error log is:
Faulting application name: EXCEL.EXE, version: 15.0.4631.1000, time stamp: 0x5396aff5
Faulting module name: AppVIsvSubsystems64.dll, version: 5.151.36.0, time stamp: 0x515dec46
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x00000000000e0a2c
Faulting process id: 0x274c
Faulting application start time: 0x01cfb2cf70843670
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\root\office15\EXCEL.EXE
Faulting module path: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\root\office15\AppVIsvSubsystems64.dll
Report Id: ae850cb4-1ec2-11e4-aee9-00158315a23c

Thank you. Please provide a link to the exact version of Microsoft Office 365 you are trying to install. I can then forward this to the devs for investigation.

Thanks again.

I am not sure what you mean by a ‘link to the exact version’ - I provided the version number in the original message.
This is the personal/home version, if that is what you asked about and not an enterprise version.

Here is a link to the general website for a trial to one of the generic versions of Office 365 (Home): https://office.microsoft.com/en-us/free-trial-try-microsoft-office-2013-and-office-365-products-FX102858196.aspx

Other than “Office 365 for Business” all non-enterprise versions are virtually the same and install using Microsoft’s “streaming installer” which, as far as I know, means there is no real download page or link to a specific version that can be provided.

The Excel about screen reads:

Microsoft Excel 2013 (15.0.4631.1000) MSO (15.0.4631.1002) 64-bit
Part of Microsoft Office 364

Thank you very much for your report in standard format, with all information supplied. The care you have taken is much appreciated by Comodo, and will increase the likelihood that this bug can be fixed.

Developers may or may not communicate with you in the forum or by PM/IM, depending on time availability and need. Because you have supplied complete information they may be able to replicate and fix the bug without doing so.

Many thanks again.

The devs have not marked this as Fixed in the tracker. However, sometimes bugs are fixed by the release of new versions, but not marked as Fixed in the tracker.

If you are able please check with the newest version (CIS version 8.0.0.4337) and let me know if this is fixed on your computer with that version.

Thank you.

Hi,
There is new version CIS 8.0. Could you please install the new version and try the Office 365 again?
Thank you very much

Hi,
According to the bug you reported on comodo forum about office 365 working with CIS.
There is new CIS, which fixed some bugs. Could you please take some time to check whether the problem still exists?
Thank you very much

Hello,

The devs have not marked this as Fixed in the tracker. However, sometimes bugs are fixed by the release of new versions, but not marked as Fixed in the tracker.

If you are able please check with the newest version (CIS version 8.1.0.4426) and let me know if this is fixed on your computer with that version.

Thank you.

Should be fixed with version <10.0.0.5144>.

Thank you.
