Unable to get X-Lite VOIP application to work [Resolved]

Hello,

I am a new user and am unable to get X-Lite VOIP to work with the firewall. It works fine with Zone Alarm, or no firewall. When I load the Comodo Firewall, and properly answer the prompt to ALLOW, I can talk for about 3 seconds before the X-Lite crashes with Fatal errors. Is there any special configurations for VOIP?

Thanks in advance,

Cliff

Cliff,

I took a look at CounterPath’s website, the X-Lite 3.0 manual, FAQ, and forum. I found some things that might help a bit. From their forum, try this:

Once in a call, press F9, and see what codecs you’re using. Then cxl the call, go to Options/Advanced/Codecs and enable only that Codec. You may also try unchecking sip keep-alives on the advanced section of your SIP account.

As far as the firewall goes, you may need to allow some incoming traffic in Network Monitor. Let’s do this:

Go to Activity/Logs. Right-click and select “Clear all logs.” Then try to make a call. When the call drops, go back to Activity/Logs, and select “Export to HTML.” Save the file, and reopen it.

Highlight the entries. Right-click and Copy. Then right-click and Paste into your next post here. You may mask out your external IP address with “x” if it shows; please leave others as they may be pertinent.

LM,

Thanks for the advice. Further investigation has revealed that it is in fact the Comodo Anti-virus which is the cause (I had both loaded - I didn’t think an anti-virus would conflict). But after a few installs and uninstalls, I found that x-lite runs ok with the Comodo firewall. Please close out this topic. I’ll open a new one under the Anti-virus heading.

Cliff

LM,

Oops. Forgot to mention that I did try your recommendations with X-Lite. Turned off the “keep-alives” and pressed F9 alot during a call and did not get a response.

Okay, I’m glad to hear it’s working. Sorry there was an issue with CAVS. Yes, please open a thread there so that can be addressed and hopefully resolved.

For the benefit of anyone else using X-Lite, did you end up needing to create any specific rules in CFP - Network, Application, etc?

Or within X-Lite for that matter?

Tnx,

LM

LM,

All I had to do was add X-Lite as an authorized application. No other steps.

Thanx for the feedback, that’s good to know. I’ll go ahead and mark this one Resolved and closed. If for some reason you need it reopened, just PM a Moderator (please include a link) and we’ll be happy to do that for you.
