Turning my wireless adapter into an ACCESS POINT?

My network adapter is what I use to connect to the internet. It recieves the signal from my router and sends back data. The question is can I turn that adapter itself into an access point, like my router is? Can I use my wireless adapter to broadcast a connection that other wireless devices can connect to? If so, what software do I need?

You need to put your wireless adapter in infrastructure or ad hoc mode - most adapters support these modes and no extra software is needed.

In Windows XP go to ‘Network Connections’ in the ‘Control Panel - Network and Internet Connections’ and right click on your wireless adapter and ‘Properties’. From there click on the ‘Wireless Networks’ tab and click ‘Advanced’ - then click access point or ad hoc depending on which meets your needs - and you’re away.

Hope this helps,
