tray icon

After putting a second account in xp, my Comodo tray icon has a red circle with a line through it. Everything seems to be working, so what’s this about?

Generally a red “X”, or a circle with a line through it, like this example, means that something is not working, not allowed or turned off. Depending on the usage, of course.

My guess would be that some part, or all of, Comodo is disabled. Right click on the Comodo icon in the system tray, look at the top menu entries ( Security Level…). Hover the mouse over each, to check to if any of them say “Disabled” (bottom entry) on the sub-menu that pops open.

If this is the case, I would suggest that you enable Comodo. Then make sure to run a malware and virus check afterwords. There may be no need to panic, but some careful checking is in order. Perhaps you turned something off while setting up the other user and never turned things back on?

Edit: :o Hmm… I just noticed this other topic which might also be pertinent to your situation.

Does the other account run under a Limited User Account? Can you actually block program connecting to the internet? Also try deleting application rules from D+ and see if you get alerted to make new ones.

Which version r u using? Is it full CIS 3.0? R u able to update the AV? I think even with that red circle the regular firewall works but the AV part may have some problems. Check for virus updations manually. Or try to scan a file with right click.

Do one more thing… Press Start>Run type dxdiag and enter

and see if it reports any registry errors (check on each of the windows therein)
