Torrent

But if I will use a router than I will have to forward ports in router too for torrent, right?

Whats the risk if I dont move the rule when torrent is not in use?

Refer to the image of my reply in this topic which is post #17

What’s the risk of open ports? Not really my field, I just personally don’t like to have any open ports when they are not needed.

What you could try is making application rules for µTorrent instead of a global rule, seems to work well for me with Tixati, however I don’t know if it’ll work seeing as you have a global rule that blocks all incoming if I’m not mistaken. I think Global rule > Application rule when it comes to incoming. Personally I don’t have any other global rules other than to allow connections on my LAN.

Sanya,

Win 7 64
CIS Suite, Internet Security Mode - Default Settings
Rule created for p2p in global rules in CIS as mentioned by you or link provided by you in this thread & placed the rule above block rule.
No router.

I am having same prob with utorrent, Tixati & qbittorrent. I am trying portable version of these.
The prob is…for all the 3 clients, canyouseeme port check gives same error i.e failed, couldn’t see your service, connection timed out.

utorrent, on the GUI shows yellow icon & mentions network prob.

But the strange thing is all the 3 client works fine inspite of the above mentioned errors/probs. They work one way but not the other i.e if I download & save torrent file & then add to the client they work but they are not working directly i.e I have associated torrent/magnet to client so if I click torrent file I should get a window to directly run with client, right? but I am getting normal browser download window, any info/help?

I completed a download & after completion it started seeding, how much time it takes to seed? I couldn’t find any info on seeding on the GUI i.e how much uploaded, how much upload & time remain.

Magnet links are different from .torrent links, magnet links are usually represented by a magnet icon or the text magnet. Magnet links open directly in your torrent client while .torrent links need to be downloaded and then opened.

Seeding is not limited by time, you can restrict it by percentage in the settings or you can at an time right-click the torrent and click ‘Stop’ or something like that.

in µTorrent you can right-click that one bar, what is it called? Iunno the bar at the top of the torrent window which you can click different things to sort the torrents in an ascending or descending way for different thing… yeah… you can right-click that and choose what columns you want to see, so you can choose to have a ‘uploaded’ column and an ‘ETA’ column.

I get the error when I check the port with canyouseeme website?
That doesn't mean anything, your ports are propably just stealth. which is a good thing. Even though your ports are stealth, you can still what you got to do

I went there using firefox checking port 80

Error: I could not see your service on 192.**.**.** on port (80) Reason: Connection timed out
I can assure you I'm using port 80. My ports are stealth

How about this
Go to windows services (assuming you know who)
Disable windows firewall and disable it from starting up since you are already there(your already using comodos firewall and you don’t need 2 firewalls running)
restart computer
Can you download a torrent now??

If not,
Now just for the purpose of testing, disable comodo firewall and defense +, BB, and sandbox (temporarily >:-D )
Now try downloading a torrent because there are no windows or security restrictions

Does it work now (we’re just trying to narrow down the culprit)

This is how its suppose to work (for simplicity purposes, lets assume your using firefox or equivalent like icedragon)
You click on a torrent to download, firefox will download it (only a few kb’s in size) your torrent client should pop up and start downloading the item (if it doesn’t, in firefox. click on downloads and click on the .torrent file downloaded. and double click on it. It’ll ask you how do you want to open it. Pick or search for the torrent client like utorrent or something. Then it should work from there)

Sanya & Jay,

Thanxx for the info. I will test again & post here the outcome.

Jay, I run CIS Suite only with default settings, Windows FW & UAC disabled.
I can download torrent. Have created p2p rule in CIS as mentioned in the link posted by Sanya.
The prob is when I check my torrent port with canyouseeme, it mention the error posted in my previous post.
And direct download prob that I have mentioned in my previous post & you guys have mentioned few solution to it. So I will try & post the outcome here.
