To "very complaining user" =))

Ok, I am new to this forum and even Comodo products, but I already appreciate the products and the CEO’s manifesto and goal with the free products. The purpose of this note is first to acknowledge that not a single piece of software will be accepted by everyone and that includes the CTM product.

The problem i have is a user “very complaining user” who happened to be very unhappy, and perhaps rightly so in his use of the product. I personally resolved my issues with the product, and have sinced installed it on over 35 machines since recent discovery for a couple of clients. If you have had your issues, you expressed them already - it’s enough already and frankly QUITE ANNOYING. Ok, we understand you are unhappy it ■■■■■■■ up your machine and we all know you are not happy - period. Now move on, and get a life. Wait til it is stable for you or use an alternative. But please stop annoying the entire community with these petty and constant kids like attitude. Please respect the other users who can make up their own mind. Thank you.

As for the Comodo Time Machine - it works on 35+ machine except 1 which I fixed by changing to compatibility (from ACHI). Good stuff!

Well so far I have nothing but praise for CTM. I’ve used it extensively to say the least. It hasn’t failed once. Granted, I haven’t uninstalled it yet but I haven’t found a reason to do so. I have made and restored hundreds of snapshots, updated CTM which is essentially the same as uninstalling I assume and I have reset/updated the baseline without any problems. I do have a license for Eaz-Fix and used it equally as much in the past. I said all that to say this once again, I have nothing but praise for CTM and challenge others who have had the same success to reply to this topic.

Well i tried to give “very complaining user” the hint here

Pehaps its time the moderators block him from this forum.

It was very nice of you to speak on behalf of everyone, but could you please, in future, specifically and explicitly exclude myself, in writing, when you issue epistles on behalf of “most of us here”.

Pehaps its time the moderators block him from this forum.

Much as you would think we like banning people, we don’t. It’s usually a measure of last resort.

“very complaining user” is angry and upset that he feels he cannot safely uninstall CTM from his second PC. I don’t blame him. If it happened to me, I would be upset as well. I don’t know that I would get on my high horse quite so vehemently, but that’s just me.

The fact that Comodo staff have contacted him and told him they are building a safer removal tool indicates that there is a problem. The fact that the problem only seems to affect a tiny percentage of CTM users appears to elude him.

Perhaps it’s time for everyone, and I mean EVERYONE to stop posting ad hominem attacks.

Ad hominem attacks are covered under the new Forum Policy and some of us are just itching to use these new powers. If someone is continiually annoying you with their posts, please use the “Report to Moderator” button.

We’ll look after it from there.

Chill everyone, please.

Ewen

P.S> I have removed the affected users name from all posts in this thread.

The fact that Comodo staff have contacted him and told him they are building a safer removal tool indicates that there is a problem. The fact that the problem only seems to affect a tiny percentage of CTM users appears to elude him.

And the fact that you have entirely deleted some of my posts just now hasnt eluded me! Bravo. Way to not take sides. The link in the post i provided above gave an honest assessment of the “Very Complaining users” attitude and that most of us have heard enough of it!

Comodo rightly contact him to help him out and how does he repay them? By continuing to sing his sad story at every chance he gets in spite of the help Comodo are currently providing. Comodo, understandably, are unable to respond without alienating their customers so here i am thinking i’ll just let this guy know enough is enough. No…this is unacceptable behaviour… bagging a product till the cows come home and beyond is OK though.

Apparently Mr “Very complaining User”, your behaviour IS acceptable. I mean i still see your posts for everyone to read and be tarnished by your very jaded opinion. But hey, if the moderators are happy with that then by all means, go for it. You’ve been given a green light. I certainly wont be getting in your way any longer or defending the honour of this product because doing that is clearly NOT Acceptable.

In reflection, its not really the moderators fault. After reading the following

If someone is continiually annoying you with their posts, please use the "Report to Moderator" button.

then i understand how everyone but the moderators realize that Mr “Very Complaining User” is most definitely annoying us!

Think again my friend. Your posts have NOT been deleted. The link has been changed because it pointed directly at a post where you vented your spleen (not my spleen, not everyone else’s spleen - just yours) at an individual. The fact that you referred directly to an individual was the issue.

The link in the post i provided above gave an honest assessment of the "Very Complaining users" attitude and that most of us have heard enough of it!

Most of us???

Can I ask who made you Judge Judy and executioner? (Only kidding).

If you’re thinking “i’ll just let this guy know enough is enough” then please express it as your personal opinion, not as the collective opinion of the great unnamed masses. That way, if Mr. “very complaining user” wants to attack someone, he knows just who to vent at, rather than just taking aim at the entire forum and communinty.

Of course, it would be preferred if you bit your tongue and just let him run out of steam. As a rule, hot air dissipates quickly.

Apparently Mr "Very complaining User", your behaviour IS acceptable. I mean i still see your posts for everyone to read and be tarnished by your very jaded opinion.

In the same way that everyone can still see yours. These forums were founded on a basis of openness. All opinions count - all we are currently doing is jousting about his delivery and his frequency.

I agree - he is abrasive and it is getting repetitive. I similarly agree he has a particularly obnoxious way of trying to get his point across. If you strip away the emotion from his posts we are left with the simple fact that he has found a bug in CTM and it has seriously affected his use of his computers. Comodo have promised an answer, but the answer has yet to be delivered.

But hey, if the moderators are happy with that then by all means, go for it. You've been given a green light.

No, he hasn’t.

In reflection, its not really the moderators fault. After reading the following
If someone is continually annoying you with their posts, please use the "Report to Moderator" button.

If this style of posting continues and you are offended by it in any way, please use the “Report to Moderator” button. An alert is sent to all moderators and we tend to jump onto those pretty quickly. I’ll check with the other moderators and see if anyone has received an alert about Mr “very complaining user” and get back to you.

Cheers,

so what if someone wants to complain about a flawed program so what.maybe one of these days they will get the hint and fix it,that is the uninstall issue.i dont care if its a small precentage(me included) that it affects or not it should be fixed.i know they said a update is coming but saying and doing is 2 different things.complaining about a problem is good who wants a forum full of people saying how great something is when it isn’t.if the posts from the comnplaining users bother you dont read them.they must be interesting to you if your reading them.

+1

If no-one complained or suggested improvements, things would get stagnant and stale pretty quickly. The only issue here is how things get presented and how often. Some posters do go overboard. While it is understandable they are upset, sometimes they way they complain, or the frequency of their complaints, clouds the orignal issue.

Ewen

Well, If you read my posts, you would know the issues I have had are with the uninstall, not the install. I am glad you installed this on over 35 computers. Now try to uninstall it.
All of you are simply dog piling. If any of you had your computers distroyed as I have had, you would all be singing another song. Also, if any of you read my posts, all I have asked is for Comodo to tell me how to uninstall this program without trashing my second computer. Secondly, I ask that they take the download down until they fix this catastrophic bug. I wouldn’t complain about a small bug. This software has destroyed too many computers. Comodo acknowledges this. These forums are full of posts relating to this. Leaving this software up is inexcusable for a company that prides itself on security and safety.

I have uninstalled it on 3 computers after reading this - Paying a price to use free software: the dark side of Comodo products | dotTech and this http://www.raymond.cc/forum/general-forum/13829-can-we-still-trust-comodo.html but I did not have any problems. I am certain that if it did mess up my computer, I’d still know how to fix it. My issue at this point is not technical, but ethical’ per above.

What is their reason to you for not taking it down if they have acknowledged it as being a problem?

You don’t know what you are talking. The uninstall corrupts the MBR which is not reparable. Your computer will not boot at that point. Period.

Speaking for myself I don’t like these kind of inflammatory threads that are a flame war waiting to happen IMO.

Having said that discovering that your system has been rendered inoperable due to a software bug is most certainly very irritating and that irritation is exacerbated if the problem doesn’t seem to be treated seriously.

As for the corrupted MBR using a PE based boot cd such as UBCD4Win,there are tools such as Mbrfix which can be run to possibly rectify the situation.

Is that for everyone? Also this

Not everyone experiences this corruption of the MBR. I tried CTM and did not like it for many reasons. I uninstalled it without a hitch. I would have to say though that I will never install it again.

I never said it happened to everyone. Of course that’s not the case. It does happen and it happens too much. Just read through this forum and you will find loads of posts about this serious problem. Comodo hasn’t offered a fix for this since the last patch long ago, they leave the download up, and they do not warn users of the problem. I felt compelled to warn others. I lost very important data as well as irreplaceable family photos. I don’t want others to experience this.

Also, on the post above this relating to repairing the MBR with 3rd party utilities, there has also been posts on this as well. Comodo says using them will not work.

man! ok, we get it. you sound like a broken recorder…over and over and over and over. And fyi, i would not have those problems as you because i’m certain i’m more technical than you…now get OVER it.

Calm down, don’t get so emotional. I’m not mad. If you want to use the software, go ahead.
Tell me, how do you know your technical experience is greater than mine. I doubt it is.

You do have a point though. There are enough posts here to warn users. I see no need for me to continue.
All I ever wanted is for Comodo to tell me how to get this program off my computer without trashing it. They won’t or can’t do that.

Out for good.
