Smart Fortress 2012 is a pernicious rogue that is spreadingly rapidly. It hijacks browser downloads, prevents the running of executables, redirects browser searches, disallows renaming or deleting its components while it is active and generally slows your system to a crawl. It can even start in safe mode.
TIP 1
While it prevents downloads from a browser, it does not stop downloading attachments from an email. Email your tools of choice to yourself and download them in an email app on the infected system.
TIP 2
While it prevents executables from running, it is only stopping EXE files. Rename your tool of choice to COM and it will start fine (killswitch.com was used in this instance).
