I remember glancing over somewhere here that there is something in particular that should be meant only for incoming or outgoing (a Windows based file that tries to access the internet or receive a connection from it).

Can anyone help me out here? lol

Also, how do I block an application from trying to access the internet for updates (I prefer doing updates manually).

Disable the auto update in the program its self and keep the firewall rule for that program set to outgoing only.
