The Best Free Virus Protection Review by Bright Hub

Top 10 Free Antivirus programs

Is this website established ?

Yes, it appears they disabled everything but the AV component. That does essentially cripple the suite. Comodo AV is not meant to be run that way. It must have the Sandbox/Defense+ active to be safe.

By the way, who knows what is installed if you download the AV installer and run it? Does it come with the Sandbox and Defense+?

Hi,
I’m the guilty one, that commented on the article The Best Free Virus Protection Review by Bright Hub.
Hope that my doubts to the results came across!

PS! Thanks to JoWa

I reported to her that she should get familiar with all technologies of Comodo. She’s a Microsoft specialist after all, right? 88)
Also told her to restart and then scan for infections…
But ■■■■, it got a very nice detection rate anyway!!! :-TU

I’d like to know if they changed the settings for all of the programs. They should have mentioned that they disabled the sandbox as this is a large part of what is supposed to protect the Comodo Antivirus, and the computer.

Other than that the detection seems about right, but they shouldn’t have altered the defaults without noting it.

She did. Oh yes, she did, she’s as guilty as she’s [kind ok] cute! >:-D

Hi again!
I give up!
quote:
A big “huh?” here on what you wrote. The sandbox feature in Comodo will put the suspicious file in secure space and quarantine, if found malicious. There is no difference in running the possible infected file in sandbox or non-sandbox system. If you can only only understand the test//comparison in this article is not to allow the AV to detect it. If Comodo sandbox uses different “detection signature” then for your satisfaction, I can re-test Comodo AV with sandbox feature enabled but I doubt there is a difference in the virus signatures used while in sandbox or not.

At this point, I should scream at that ■■■■■, but instead, I am just gonna laugh… >:-D
I mean, this is epic!

There is no difference in running the possible infected file in sandbox or non-sandbox system. If you can only understand the test/comparison in this article is to only allow the AV to detect the malware in a real system - not in a sandbox or other space. If Comodo sandbox uses different "detection signature" while in sandbox, then for your satisfaction, I can re-test Comodo AV with sandbox feature enabled but I doubt there is a difference in the virus signatures used while in sandbox or not.

On demand detection is really Ok (95% to my mind is not bad). Prevention tests were absolutely useless because comodo av is not capable to prevent all without D+ and sandbox.

I think the misunderstanding comes from the fact that comodo allows you to download a stand alone av and if there is a stand alone av to download it can be tested vs other stand alone antiviruses.

P.S. It’s strange. Comodo Av page says it goes with d+ and even sandbox, so what this girl did wrong that comodo could not prevent all malware!!

It frees you from intimidating pop-ups by placing questionable files in an isolated environment where they can run with limited rights allowing you to continue working.

AV COMES with D+ and Sandbox, I know, I have it installed at work.
She disabled core prevention components and just used AV…
Did she disabled other products technologies and relied ONLY on av sigs? If did not, shes not credible to do ANY more tests in the future. :-TD

Ha Ha Ha  “… Protection Review”

At this point, it is safe to say Donna does NOT get it.
“The sandbox feature in Comodo will put the suspicious file in secure space and quarantine, if found malicious.”

No.
The sandbox feature in Comodo will put the suspicious file in secure space and Sandbox, if found Unknown.

Another Gem.
“Only the sandbox feature was disabled to allow the malware to run and try to infect the system.”

In other words.
Well i had to disable the sandbox so i could install the malware… ack ack.

So another totally meaningless test of outdated reactive technology.
Shedding no light whatsoever on real life prevention abilities.

Bad

edit: less personal

Someone PLEASE make a PDF file “Comodo for test Dummies: 10 steps of knowing how program works”…

let’s see my videos are online so they can see my explain it, this forum is here and there is a help file for CIS included in it. If they ignore all of these sources of information then there is no helping them.

Yeah, sorry, I totally agree… :-TU
In fact, watching your videos are way better than any manual because you get to see it in action!
You are very detailed…

Hi,
could someone pass her some information on how Comodo works?
I’m not sticking my head in there again!

I tried. My comment hasn’t been posted yet though.

Hi,
thanks Chiron for a good and sensible explanation!
But she is not giving up! >:-D

I understand what her problem is. She is treating Comodo Antivirus like the only point of it is detection, which it isn’t. Therefore her statement of the detection was correct, but that the system was infected was incorrect. She’s confusing a system protection test with a detection test and therefore testing Comodo Antivirus incorrectly.

She needs to add that in order to infect the system she had to disable the sandbox and allow every Defense+ alert. Not advice I’d give to most people who install the product.

I’m giving this test a :-TD.

Is this the same Donna who had a grudge against Comodo in the past?

if it is…then guys you are wasting your time…no matter how much you try…she will write what she wants to…not the reality…

Melih

the heading is: …Virus Protection…not Virus Detection…

so what does our beloved Donna does?

She goes and disables the most innovative “Virus Protection” -automatic sandboxing- ever invented in the history of Anti Virus products so that she can test “Detection”…

I mean…who else ha… who else

Gotta love her for that  bless her…
