The backup failed...

I am struggling to get Comodo online backup working, and having no success at all. I keep getting the main screen, but in the information bar at the bottom it says ‘Backup failed’. When I move my mouse over these words, I get the message ‘Backup failed: the specified path, file name or both are too long. The fully qualified file name must be less than 260 characters, and the directory name must be less than 248 characters.’

Trouble is, I don’t know what they are talking about. I don’t think I have an stupidly long file or directory names, and anway, I cannot restore any file at all. Anyone able to help? I am running Windows 7 on a new computer.


There are some issue with Comodo Online Backup.
We will fix the problems in the next release.
Until then you can try Comodo Online Backup v1.7


Thanks, Emanuel, but it is not so simple… I tried to uninstall Comodo before clicking the link you gave, but was unable to uninstall. Then when I set up the older version I found it had retained the settings from the uninstalled version, and worse still, it came up with exactly the same failure. Could you please give some guidance on how to uninstall and start over?

Done that, but everything has gone very quiet. Things are not looking good…
