  • Firefox cookie scanning and removal

Thanks 3 way ahead of you. Installed it yesterday :BNC.

Just upgraded to SAS 4.1 well 577 malware! How on earth do I google that lot for FPs? By the way I have these realtime Cfp 2.4, Boclean, Cmf, Nod32 & ST 2.2. Maybe these malware installed before I bought laptop off someone I know who had mcafee security suite & swore by it. Stuart

Are your sures its malware or are they cookies?

Rogue antispyware, rootkits, trojans, adware & a few cookies. I could give a few names like spyfalcon

If you’ve got anything related to spyfalcon, spyaxe etc., it ain’t FPs, unfortunately.

They are all variants of the mitfraud infections and can be a real PITA to remove. Google smitfraud and gather several variants of the removal instructions before you begin.

Good luck!

Reboot and scan again - we had one report of a similar issue (in over 2 million updates this afternoon) and it was because the new kernel driver was not loaded properly and a reboot fixed it.

If you still have the problem, please submit a support request here and we can promptly assist you:

Of course, anyone will see infection with those rogue appz., their are very noisy, if stuartm is infected he will clearly see manifestation of that infection, if not it is obvious FP…

I,ve reinstalled the said malware from quaratine rebooted run a full scan now nothing detected! So was it a load of FPs? Strange thing is my Pc speeded up alot when I removed these.

I installed it yesterday as V4.0 had a bug in it thats prevented me running scans, today it found over 100 tracking cookies and trace elements from a run in I had with Zango

Cookies are not spyware. Run CCleaner before running any scan.

+1… I always do that :-TU But pls be careful with CCleaner’s Reg cleaner… Or don’t use it at all! Deletes some stuff you may need.

Josh

I always use CCleaner registry cleaner. Never a problem but simply do a back up when it prompts you to.

RegSeeker 1.55 is also great, though it’s recommended only for users with some experience

I read some reviews…

Will investigate further…

Josh

I really don’t believe in Reg Cleaners. Best Reg Cleaners would be me and you. Think off your Car, & Your engine is your Registry Keys. You modify/clean some parts out, Could make the engine stop working or unstable (In long-term runs)…

I have had a huge problem with Reg Cleaners in the past on my old computer…Even those Highly trusted ones.

Josh

Staying with the off topic, I downloaded and installed CCleaner the other day, ■■■■, this thing is a fing BEAST!

Deep, is the only word I can use to describe it. … just, deep.

I use it mainly for uninstalling software and cleaning left behind registry keys. I think though, if I “fixed” everything it scanned I would render my OS useless. I’ve only deleted a few registry keys. I know what I need to avoid deleting.

Back on topic, does anyone know if you need to uninstall SAS to download the new version and upgrade, or can you simply get the new version through SAS update?

Very true 3 but all registry cleaners come with a back up tool. If you do a back up before deleting anything you will be fine. That way there if something is screwy after you can just recover what you deleted. I have never trusted a registry cleaner that finds hundreds of problems though. I use CCleaner and Winoptimizer which only deletes and finds stray program entires. Especially after you uninstall something. Both of them are very safe.

You need to download and install the new version after uninstalling the old one. Only takes a second.
