If I understand correctly, I should set my modem into DMZ mode. But I should set it only for the test, and disable DMZ (modem saids DMZ Host) it afterwards. Correct?
Thanks again. (:NRD)

Indeed. But I think, but I don’t know for sure as I never done this, you may also need to set up the Netgear for DMZ as well. Or you could take out the Netgear and hook up your computer to the modem by wire just for the test.
May be somebody else can comment on the two router situation as well?
The DMZ option in Netgear is disabled. What the help told me was that it “drop incoming requests that are undefined”. So I guess I’ll have to set up the modem (Westell) then not the router? I’ll await further comment.
I’ve never attempted to run two routers at once, but I think at the very least one of them should be set to pass everything through. (DMZ mode on)
I think the most convenient way of testing is to temporarily remove the Netgear wireless router and let the Westell modem/router put your computer in DMZ.
Happy testing.
I’m kinda of very nervous and scared now I’ve tested it. I’ve removed the wireless router and first enabled Static NAT first and tested (Failed) and then I got intrusion blocks in my firewall (Comodo Pro). I disabled Static NAT.
I then enabled DMZ Host and restarted the router. I’ve tried going to the GRC site but it wouldn’t load no matter how many times I refresh. Other sites like Google and COU work.
Do you think I should try with two routers (I don’t think it’s a good idea since I’m sure the configuration options in Netgear said not to respond to pings)? Here’s a screenshot of my log:
Right click and View Image for large version.
I have OpenDNS (don’t think that might affect my problem) and Stealth Ports Wizard enabled (3rd option).
Your logs only shows local network activity and nothing from the web.
But what does the ICMP mean in my log?
And I can’t seem to access GRC when DMZ is enabled on my modem.
To learn a bit about ICMP:

I have never worked with DMZ so I am afraid I am at the end of my experience here…
I hope somebody will pick up from here.
