How should refer to a liar and a fool?

Pls feel free to recommend other similar words you wish me to use

:-TU well spoken Woodstock.

I guess they got their certification in the time it was still called
ā€œMouse Clicking Solutions Engineerā€

Here is the summary of what happened:

The Blogger winhelp2002 Singled out Comodo in his blog and started having a go at Comodo cos this malicious site was able to obtain a DV cert from Comodo. But the malicious site he talked about ALSO had a Verisign cert! The Blogger missed that fact and subsequently I pointed this out to him and he admitted his omission with the following statement on his blog:

re: Comodo continues to ignore Malware warnings

Melih,

Youā€™re right ā€¦ each card selection goes to a different provider ā€¦ first Iā€™ve ever seen thatā€¦

The Blogger ALSO knows that the very site he blogged about currently has a Verisign Cert and its still Valid. This is not first Verisign cert they had either and its still valid!

It is totally unfair and nothing short of a witchhunt to single out Comodo claiming "Comodo continues to ignore Malware warnings " while the very site they blog about did have a Verisign cert previously and currently still has another Valid Verisign cert and all this while Comodo took an immediate action.

They should be ashamed of themselves! I know many great MVPs and they would cringe at what these 2 (winhelp2002 and Donna) are doing, using their status as MVP to engage in a witchhunt.

I donā€™t think that Woodstockā€™s comment ever appeared on the blog by winhelp2002 who is of course Mike Burgess who started this whole vendetta:
https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/profile=0B037AD3-C5F8-4F3B-AA0A-3597BC96B8E3

Before the other comments were removed I posted one which did appear there. As it has now been removed with the others I will quote it here as I kept a copy.

It has become more than clear during the course of this discussion that the main contributors to this blog have launched a vicious attack on Comodo with no justification whatsoever. This has no doubt damaged the business of Comodo, as the people concerned use their status of MVP to add weight to their remarks and will thus have been taken seriously by the wider security community.

It is hardly surprising that Melih has reacted furiously in this instance, as he has obviously not in any way been justly treated here.

Fortunately Paul Wilders has now introduced some common sense to this discussion, but the damage has been done, as the accusations have been widely repeated in many forums.

It would be good to see some humble pie being eaten here now and an apology at the very least!

Oh well, I guess he admits his guilt by removing the posts

He removed everything not to leave a shred of evidence of their ill doing! First he didnā€™t analyse malware site properly, now he thinks by deleting he can get rid of evidence? Gets better everyday!

I always speak the truth and never have been afraid of what the consequences of truth are. I speak my mind and always choose truth to guide me. It has never failed me!

Thank you. (:m*)

Guess the timing could be a likely cause misunderstandings but it looks like comments were disabled to prevent spambots so it is likely they will reappear at some point.

So he has restored the comments today. I am not surprised as I posted mine elsewhere also.

No sign of Woodstockā€™s comment though.

Indeed, no sign of mine, although it was posted and accepted. I should have taken a screen shot. Perhaps they are embarrassed that one of their own (MVP) is openly criticizing their seedy little campaign.

I think itā€™s fairly evident that these people are focused solely on Comodo, by their repeated refusal to recognize other CA entities as having equal culpability. I think this quote from winhelp2002 sums up thier position beautifully.

blaming Verisign is not a solution, and the truth is in my research chasing these type culprits I see a Comodo certificate most of the time ...

With that said ā€¦ this is going nowhere and Iā€™ve got better things to do ā€¦

Ostrich and sand spring to mind.

His reply to me seems quite extraordinary, entirely missing the point, but I see my response has appeared.

Woodstock maybe you could try posting your comment again?

No James, Iā€™ll not post there again, Iā€™ll probably be accused of spamming. My post was made and accepted, but he who owns the site decided to censor. Iā€™m sure his defense will be that my message got lost in all the spam he amazingly started receiving today.

He only has eyes for Comodo  literallyā€¦ he misses everybody else certs

Letā€™s say that those are one of the downsides for getting to popular + giving a free Internet security product that protects you better then paid productsā€¦

I am amazed that whenever you have something good going, somebody will always try to !!! it up.
I speak from experience.

So, if Mike Burgess MVP (aka. WinHelp2002) is so meticulous about such things himself (ie. not pedaling rougeware, protecting us users, etc), then why has his MVP Profile been showing him as being a Global Administrator for a site name that GoDaddy sold off to the highest bidder many, many months ago?

Warning: The highlighted URL in Mikeā€™s profile is a rouge site now, the SpyWareInfo forums (a really good site) is now hosted here: http://www.spywareinfoforum.info/

Is spywareinfo.com a bad site?

Melih

Did anyone inform Mike Burgess about him helping a malware site? (or you can write a blog about it first without informing him, as he does  ) but you should inform him asap so that he can stop leading people to this malware site. I am sure its unintentional on his side, but something he should have caught pretty early on and not months after. As an MVP people will take his signature seriously and get harmed. He does have a habit of missing things though;)

Hey Donna

Why donā€™t you blog about this?

Rouge Registry Repair! Veirsign does it again! Are they to blame? No. Are Comodo to blame? No. There are no Standards for DOMAIN VALIDATION (See the blue bar) - And even if you or your guys say ā€œSet a Exampleā€ or Comodo to stop selling DVā€™s them selves, They canā€™t! Because other CAā€™s are doing it, Comodo stopsā€¦ Comodo loses BIG Revenueā€¦ Comodo then canā€™t provide protection to end users for free! and so on.

So WHY not blog about this? Quite frankly, Iā€™m really over thisā€¦ And I am sure Melih is too.

Does ANYONE agree to lock this thread? (Since we know now itā€™s not Just Comodo, But Donna spreading misleading and lies about Comodoā€¦ The evidence is here and on Donnaā€™s Blog.

Cheers,
Josh
