Greetings,
I deleted my request about Unicode. It looks like Comodo is unicode-aware.
Please, correct me if I’m wrong.
But what I found is some special symbols in filenames are not recognized by Comodo and files are not written to destination.
Example: MAELSTR÷.8BF
The following are extracts from 2 saved logs. Interestingly enough when I used unicode name and the same “bad” symbol the final message was different.

(I am not sure it can be interpreted as success)

(that is kinda correct compare to the above conclusion)
Any comments are highly appreciated
Cheers
I confirm the issue under Polish version of XP. The special characters in files names in the ZIP archive are written with the wrong code page.
Hi Grzegorz,
Thanks for confirmation.
This branch of Comodos poroducts is pretty quiet.
I am still hesitating to use their Backup.
As a matter of fact you mentioned ZIP part of it. As you can see my test did not touch that area.
For me any non-unicode/special symbols etc. issue in backup files means disaster.
Saying that it would be nice to know which Zip engine Comodo uses because “native” windows one is unicode-aware. WinZip’s - not! (that is why I’m using 7z and/or RAR)
Thanks again
Best regards
PS Out of the topic.
Since you mentioned Polish.
Recently I fulfilled one of my nostalgic dreams when eventually obtained
“Aerolit” & “Katharsis” albums by Czesław Niemen (RIP, the man will never be forgotten) If you are into dissent contemporary music, progressive rock etc. you should know otherwise and in any case:
“Jeszcze Polska nie zgineła…” (:WAV)
Take care
I was Niemen’s fan when I was much younger (35 years ago :)). I never thought that Niemen’s music is known abroad. As far as I remember he tried to make a career in Italy, France and US. As concerns “Jeszcze Polska nie zgineła…”, it first words of Polish national anthem. May I ask you what’s your location ? Have ever visited Poland ? I never dream somebody quote Polish anthem on technical forum. Thanks SiberLynx. I appreciate this.
Me too
Thanks SiberLynx!
PS. Pozdorwienia Grzegorz!
