Is it worth running a browser in sandbox ? My extensions work with it and seems normal. I was wondering if the cache, history etc gets saved to HD normally or does it get deleted from the temp folder once i close out ?
With “standard” settings for the BB /Sandbox (you have not gone into the Advanced Settings and changed what files are NOT virtualized) then when you close the browser AND reset the sandbox, then all the cache, history, cookies, etc. are gone. The only thing that should survive is anything you placed in the ‘Shared Folder’

Hi
I would definitely recommend running your browser sandboxed, for obvious reasons the security offered from a virtual browser is vastly improved on a non-virtual browser ie once reset all exploits/malware/etc are deleted :-TU
It is possible to force certain folders/files to remain persistent by adding them to the -Do not virtualize access to folders/files option in Advanced Settings → Defense + → Sandbox → Add → File Groups here you can chose to add Web Data Folders.
Using the Web Data Folders option allows Downloads/bookmarks/Preferences/Extensions/Favorites to be written to the HDD permanently.
However the more “holes” you create in the sandbox the less “waterproof” it becomes.
Any permanent changes I want to make ie updates/bookmarks/extensions I do by running a non-virtual instance of the browser and adding the changes, the next time I open the virtual browser the changes are there.
I personally have created a Non-Virtual Download folder on the desktop and added this to the sandbox exceptions, in the browsers settings (Comodo Dragon) I have changed the download location to this folder.
Shared Space is also specifically made for this purpose.
Hope this helps a little

Ok thanks. I use dragon as well. I’ll config it so downloads .bookmarks etc gets saved .
I ran a utility program last night in sandbox. It was cool that I didn’t have to unistall or clean out registry afterwards .
I see you use Ghostery as well. Good for you. Thanks for info. Going to do it all now. Mainly just want my bookmarks and downloads able to be saved .
Ghostery is a cool extension, it’s good to be privacy aware
The most secure set up would be to only allow your downloads to be written to disk thru the sandbox and install/change bookmarks/extensions in a non-virtual instance of dragon therefore changing your virtual instance upon restart.
Personally I would recommend this approach :-TU
However sandboxie aslso allows for bookmarks/add ons/extensions to be changed “thru” the sandbox and I’m not aware of this been exploited.
