Slow LAN transfer speed when using Intel Pro/100 VE adapter [V6][M217]

Hi
I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit Toshiba Satellite Laptop and have been using Comodo Internet Security V5 for some time with no problems.

I have recently uninstalled V5 and updated to V6 and now have a problem with very slow transfer speeds to my home LAN external drives and other PC’s. My internet speed is fine as is my wireless connection.

I have isolated the problem to the Intel Pro/100 VE network adapter with V6. All is fine if I re-install V5.

With V6 installed if you untick the Comodo Firewall Driver checkbox in my NIC properties my transfer speeds return to normal when copying files across my home network but have no firewall of course.

It appears the V6 firewall driver has an issue when used with an Intel Pro/100 VE NIC.

V5 firewall works fine with the Intel Pro/100 VE NIC

For the time being I am running Comodo V6 using my wireless connection which works ok with it. Normal transfer speeds available to my home network.

Anybody having this issue?

Please use the full format provided in this topic so we can forward this to the devs.

Thank you.

Yes a full bug report please

In particular could you ensure that your killswitch process list has the CPU and Working set columns showing and is taken when the problems you describe are happening.

Many thanks

A. THE BUG/ISSUE (Varies from issue to issue)

  1. What actually happened or U actually saw: Very slow transfer speed to Home LAN devices
  2. If not obvious, what U expected to happen or see:Normal transfer speeds
  3. Can U reproduce the problem & if so how reliably?:YES , permanent issue
  4. If you can, precise steps to reproduce it. If not say what you did before it happened: Uninstalled CIS V5
  5. If a software compatibility problem have U tried the conflict FAQ?: YES
  6. Any software except CIS/OS involved? If so give name, exact version, & download link: NO other software involved
  7. Any other information, eg your guess at the cause, how U tried to fix it etc: Issue isolated to issue with Intel Pro/100 VE NIC. Disable the Comodo Firewall driver on this adapter and transfer speed returns to normal. Problem did not exist with CIS V5. Reinstall V5 and all is ok again. Wireless connection OK with both V5 and V6 as is my internet connection.
  8. Always attach: Diagnostics file, Killswitch processes, dump (if freeze/crash). If complex: CIS logs & config, screenshots, video. See note below

B. YOUR SETUP (Likely the same from issue to issue, users can copy forward)

  1. CIS version & configuration: 6.0.260739.2674 Internet Security
  2. Modules enabled & level. Defense+/HIPS, Autosandbox/BBlocker, Firewall, & AV: Default settings
  3. Have U updated (without uninstall) from a previous version of CIS:NO. Clean install
    a. if so, have U tried a a clean reinstall - if not please do?:
  4. Have U imported a config from a previous version of CIS: NO
    b. if so, have U tried a standard config - if not please do:
  5. Have U made any other major changes to the default config? (egs here.):NO
  6. OS version, SP, 32/64 bit, UAC setting, account type, & virtual machine used:Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit, UAC disabled. Admin.
  7. Other security & sandbox software a) currently installed b) installed since last OS install:No other realtime security software running. Hitman Pro Free and Malwarebytes Free installed.

Have attached two video screenshots of Killswitch Process screen.
Vid 1 is with just Killswitch running
Vid 2 is during the copy of a 8Mb file from PC to Home Network external drive connected via LAN. File transfer took 5mins, should take a few seconds normally.

Thank you very much for your report in standard format, with all information supplied. The care you have taken is much appreciated by Comodo, and will increase the likelihood that this bug can be fixed.

Developers may or may or may not communicate with you in the forum or by PM/IM, depending on time availability and need. Because you have supplied complete information they may be able to replicate and fix the bug without doing so.

Many thanks again

Sadly the devs have responded that they will not be able to fix this issue. There are few users who use this hardware, and the devs do not currently have access to it. I will therefore move this to Resolved.
