Should I turn off the Windows Firewall? [Resolved]

Is the default Windows Firewall supposed to be active while CPF is running? I went to the control panel, and deactivated it and this message popped up:

Has this ever happened to anyone else?

Interesting alert. Outpost is your former firewall but is completely uninstalled, right? Then run Ewen’s script, which I ran last night just to refresh the repository folder. The CFP installation should’ve auto disabled the XP firewall already. If it didn’t then there’s no reason to have 2 running firewalls other than potential system instability.

The FAQ is in my sig:

Windows (Security Centre) Doesn't Recognize Comodo Firewall,211.0.html,545.0.html,1182.0.html,2479.0.html

Windows XP Firewall Enabled with Comodo Firewall,1188.0.html

Thanks for the quick reply Soya, But I’m not sure what Ewen’s Script is. I checked the threads you posted and found these directions in an external link:

(1) stop the WMI Service, (2) delete the "repository" folder in C:\windows\system32\wbem, and (3) start the WMI Service. Starting the service rebuilds the deleted folder and the database.

Not really sure what all of that means though because I’m a novice at this kind of stuff. Would you mind explaining how to refresh the repository folder?

Sure. The last link to the windows doesn’t recognize CFP firewall leads to a file made by Ewen:,2479.msg19751.html#msg19751 → download and unzip this file. Double click on the remove_wmi.bat file. Then reboot the computer. This is the easiest method to refresh the repository folder, which controls how the Windows Security Centre reports your AV and FW statuses.

The .bat file worked perfectly, thanks for the help Soya!

No problems. It’s a good idea to keep that file to prepare for future occurrences of this.
