Settings for IE 7

Please tell me how to configure Comodo for basic browsing using IE7…this may sound silly, but certain sites seem to work…and certain don’t…e.g. I can hit the Yahoo home page…but not my email. I’m a little green to firewall settings. How do I configure IE to trust some sites…but ask about the rest. Setting specific apps seems fairly straight forward…but the frequent/ infrequent sites seems not so straight forward. Thanks for any help

If you’re able to browse at all, then it wouldn’t seem CFP is blocking you. If it was blocking you, you wouldn’t be able to connect…

As to why some sites but not others, I don’t have a quick answer for you. Three thoughts come to mind…

  1. IE7 has some different settings than previous versions; perhaps it’s blocking some activeX, java, etc…

  2. There’s a different executable being used when checking your mail, etc that needs to be approved in CFP.

  3. Kind of in line with #2, CFP is prompting you to allow a component of IE7, which you are denying.

We can check in CFP easily enough…

Go to Activity/ Logs, and see if there are entries there blocking Applications (specifically, IE7). If so, right-click an entry, select “Export to HTML.” Save the file, and reopen it. Then copy/paste the pertinent text from the file into your post here. You can edit out IP addresses and personal info that you don’t want on the web. Just leave enough of IP addresses to show a match where needed.
