Scheduled Scans Freeze

About twice a week, scheduled scans freeze and I must reboot my system. I’m using the latest version CIS. I have tried the DEP thing but it did not make any difference. Any ideas anyone?

Did you do a clean install of 3.9 or did you update from 3.8 using the program updater? What OS are you on?

Used the updater. XP SP2 with latest updates. I should also add that this is a new development. I used CIS for a long time without any problem and now this happens. Tried to do manual scan and the same thing happens.

Please try a clean install of 3.9 without importing an old configuration. Does as follows (but forget about the Legacy keys):

Uninstall CIS and reboot. Then run [url=https://forums.comodo.com/comodo_system_cleaner_fileregistryprivacy_cleaner/comodo_system_cleaner_116494436_released-t37631.0.html]Comodo System Cleaner[/url] to get rid off registry keys.

Then delete the Comodo folders under Program Files, Program Files\Common Files, C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ .
For Vista/Win7
Users%username%\appdata\local, Users%username%\appdata\roaming\ and \Users%username%\appdata\local\virtual store

To be even more thorough open Device Manager and set it to show hidden devices under menu option View. Then see if there are Comodo driver(s) left in non Plug and Play drivers. If so select the driver → click right → uninstall and reboot.

Now delete the following:
C:\boot.ini.comodofirewall (this file may not exist).
WARNING: Do not mistakenly remove the original “boot.ini”.
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\cmdGuard.sys
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\cmdhlp.sys
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\inspect.sys
C:\WINDOWS\system32\guard32.dl

Tried your fix but it didn’t work. Scheduled scan froze this morning. Had to reboot.

My scheduled scans often freeze and kill the PC, too.

And yes, the above procedure is a lot of work, and why does the product even HAVE an “update” function if it causes the system to crash regularly? If there’s an “update” function, it ought to work correctly, otherwise remove it and make everyone go through the long, complex procedure above.

By the way, do we have to do this long, complex procedure for every future new version, too? And must we recreate our complicated Defense+ and firewall rules built up over time, or is there a way to export/import them after reinstall?

Is it possible this could be related to system resources?

Run the GUI (cfp.exe) as Admin. From Misc./Manage my Configurations, you can export and import your CIS configurations.
