Scheduled Backups Not Working

I have scheduled a full backup weekly and an incremental backup daily.

None of the scheduled backups are working.

Backup only works if I do a manual backup.

The weird thing is that on Backup’s home page, it says it did the daily incremental backup but there is no backup file. I have searched all my drives for all files with a .cbu extension , but the only file that exists is the one I did manually.

What should I do?

By the way, I am using the latest CB version 3 on a Windows 7 64 bit computer.

Thanks.

There are more problems with schedules in version 3. I came across lots of dysfunctionality and inconsistency without fully testing it, but just by changing some settings and scheduling a few backups.

1.) On my Win2008 x64 installation there aren’t even success messages. At the time it’s supposed to run service backups - nothing happens.

2.) Some schedules ask for a password (even when they are set to remember it) when the schedules run manually. Some even do not accept given password even when it’s copy-pasted !?

3.) When I Edit the Backup settings of a scheduled backup, only a few of them appear to be saved, the most are empty or contain default values.

4.) Email notifications are not sent on task start failure.

Maybe these problems have the same cause (for ex. something with process or service permissions).

CB 3.0.164972.96

I tried setting both “normal” and “service” schedules and neither of them will run as scheduled. As I said, only manual backups work.

You are correct that when in the service mode, there is no error message and it does not run.

In the normal setting, you do get an error message simply stating that there was an error, but no explanation of what the error was.

I hope this can get fixed soon.

Thank you for reporting these problems.
Our QA department will analyze them and they will be fixed.

Thanks

Yes i have the same issue as well.

I installed CBU on Vista Home Premium 64-bit
Scheduled backups do not work.
Reported error is “Synchronization Service not available”.
But I think there is no Windows Synchronization Service on Vista Home Premium
Please advise

Hi

Synchronization service is a service installed by Comodo BackUp.
Please make sure it’s not disabled. Go to services in control panel → Administrative tools

Thanks

Thanks for response.

Whoops! My machine is running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (not Vista).

I go to Services and see that there is Comodo Backup Service running (“started”)
C:\Program Files\COMODO\COMODO BackUp\SynchronizationService.exe

Is that the Synchronization Service?

But when Comodo tries to run the backup it gives the following log

Hi

Thanks for the detailed log.
This seems to be an issue with limited account.
Do you get the same error when running under administrator privileges?

Thanks

I am continually getting an error code 1
but not sure what it means

Please make sure you have the latest version installed 3.0.171317.130
If this is the version you have, please post a screenshot and a debug file as instructed here:

Thanks

Hi all,
I manually scheduled a full backup using the /script option, set the task “run as” field and then log off.

This is the script:

/backup_operation
/destinationType 1
/type filesandfolders
/encriptionPassword "password"
/destinationPath "z:\fileName.cbu"
/source "H:\FolderName"
/backup_type full
/log_file "z:\fileName.log"
/log_method "create"
/guiRunMode 5
/silentrun

Z is a network folder and all the commands are on a single row.

Nothing happen.
Any idea?

In attachment the debug dump as request.
Thanks

Hi

If Z: is a mapped network drive and you have UAC on, please run cmd.exe as administrator and remap Z: drive.
The issue seems to be caused by Z: drive not being visible in CB. Remapping the drive in administrator context will fix the problem.

Thanks

I agree is an issue related to network drive but I haven’t solved.

I remapped the drive using administrator, run the scheduled task using the administrator user and domain user without success.

I found a workaround:
This is my .cmd file

net use z: /delete
sleep 2
net use z: \\networkDrive\Folder
sleep 5
ping networkDrive
CBU command with options

I delete the network drive, recreate it, ping it and then backup.
Now it seems to work.

The only problem is that the scheduled task remain in “running” state even if the task is completed.
Any suggest?

EDIT: sorry, my error in workaround. I put a pause at the end so the task was waiting for a key pressed.
For me the issue is solved using the previous code
