Scanning: My Computer (Scheduled) (73%)

Hey, I’ve got 6 hdds adding up to a total of 3,224Gb of space and 2,222Gb of that space is free - just 1,002Gb of data is here. I am trying Comodo Antivirus and Defense+, I didn’t want the geekbuddy stuff nor did I want to get DNS jacked/romanced by comodo.

There are 5 removable drives attached to this system and each is empty.

There are 6 networked hard drives mapped from a local server on this computer and I can’t be bothered adding up the used space they represent.

Every time the ‘full scan’ has started on this Windows 7 Professional (Service Pack 1) on Intel(R) Core™ i7 CPU 860 @ 2.80GHz with 12.0GB in 64-bit Operating System machine it has stalled into a situation where it has scanned around 1500000 objects, found 50 threats, and will not proceed (stalled on a file “Status: H:\ye+_ol…\CODE_UPLOAD9637952000.zip|explo.bmp” this time…) and cannot be paused nor stopped. It reports insufficient resources to pause or stop - yep, computer only has 12.0GB and not much else running one of the times this scan has bombed like this so… :frowning:

This is the 5th time this has happened with this brilliant new (free version) software I have decided to try for the first time ever. The other four times this has happened I have started the scan my self but this time the weekly scheduled scan has set it off and I am tired of this, it means I have to restart my computer which is something I prefer not to do - I’ve had windows machines run for years at a time each without needing to be restarted, I’ve restarted this one 10 times inside of a week of installing this software where I probably only restarted it 10 times in the preceeding year.

I’ll have to restart again to get rid of this stupid box sitting here with a sweeping radar graphic with the ‘Duration’ count increasing to go away and stop being dysfunctional. Boo.

When this system restarts I am going to see if I can get this software to scan ONE drive at a time (ie., I will right click the drive and see that I can select to have it scanned and then if it can complete on each drive) so perhaps I can get around to at least being told what the 50 threats are if not actually go through with having them removed. once that completes I think I will give an update post to this thread as to the success of that and then I will choose a full scan again and further an update to this thread as to whether or not that succeeds.

Just to be forthright: I would not currently part with money for a licensed version of this software nor would I rush into recommending even this free version to anybody based on my current satisfaction with it.

Hi robsoles,
Comodo Secure DNS and GeekBuddy are optional during install.

This is the 5th time this has happened with this brilliant new (free version) software I have decided to try for the first time ever.
If this brilliant new software is V6, please remember it is Beta software with possible bugs expected.
once that completes I think I will give an update post to this thread as to the success of that and then I will choose a full scan again and further an update to this thread as to whether or not that succeeds.
Please do keep us informed and thanks for trying it. :)

If this is V6 it will differ slightly from the links below,
You should be able to scan specific drives by adding a scan profile.
Scan Profiles

You can also remove any unwanted scheduled scans.
Scheduled Scans

So far so bad…

Drive C: No threats on 474Gb drive with 163Gb free
Drive D: No threats on 390Gb drive with 109Gb free

Drive H: 14 threats found on 499Gb drive with 280Gb free but scanner terminates with error and does not remove nor reveal the threats - I will be more informative soon, I have mass distractions and stuff to contend with aside from this with my own personal computer at home
