Request: CFP Network Security Policy & Defense+

Howdy folks with an Aussie Accent.

My Product: COMODO Firewall (free version).

At the COMODO Team.
My Request: COMODO Network Security & Defense+ policy will allow ‘users’ to add/update already entered applications in the policy by simply re-entering/re-adding the application/exe/dll again (even though the application already exists in the policy rules), and not give you the typical dialog box of “This entry already exists” after clicking on the Access Control [Apply] button.

This will be a valuable additional feature for all COMODO Power Users (as in my case).

My additional rant:
I have noticed that when you want to change a policy on an already entered particular certain Win32 PE (i.e. exe & dll et cetera) in the Application Rules, it means scrolling through all the rules. Sure, this is not so bad if you only have a few policies for applications/.exe/.dll, et cetera (blocked), but, if you are like me and have many extensions and applications blocked (in my case is over 100) then this is just darn too tedious of an effort to literally read absolutely every rule just to find what you are looking for.

An example of wasted time management (more ranting hidden in an apparent example):
I blocked SbieSvc.exe (Sandboxie) from accessing the internet, and since it uses the defaulted generic %WIN% ICO (icon), as do many other applications, this drastically eats away at my time just to change the policy on it “if” I wanted to update such an application after scrambling through countless applications/exe/dll that also share the same M$ ICO.

Summary (for those that still do not get it):
Basically, it should be similar to the HOST file if you want to add additional IP addresses to block. Just because it already exists in the HOST file does not mean you cannot add the same IP address again to block.
COMODO Firewall policies needs this feature where it will ‘call’ up the already entered policy instead of merely giving you the warm message of “This entry already exists”. >_<

Thank-you all for reading.
Cheers. [_]8

At Everyone.
Please place your vote in the poll so that the COMODO Team may use this information of whether or not such additional code should be added into the CFP (COMODO Firewall Protection).

G’day with a similar toning.

There is a sort of a workaround for this, but, even so, it could be improved.

With the firewall or D+ rules list open, click once where it says “Application Name”, press CTRL-F and the top line of the window will blank, allowing you to type in the name of the app you’re looking for.

Where it gets a bit chunky is that you have to type in the full path (e.g. c:\windows\system32\ping.exe) rather than just the executable name. It’s not too bad because as you type, a droplist appears that adjusts with each character typed. The app you’re looking for will soon appear.

It’d be better if you could just type in “ping.exe” though.

Hope this helps and nice to see another Aussie on board.

Cheers,
Ewen

Recently SS26 pointed out that it is not actually necessary to use CTRL+F. The base method don’t change but typing the patch directly might be faster.

At panic/Ewen.

Yes.

Absolutely. This is exactly what I would like to see added. Just type in the .exe/.dll (or any other extension for that matter), and ‘wham’, it gets called up for you.

I was merely continuining the Seinfieldisms.

LMAO.

I agree, also sorting the policy list by the column header would help a lot in certain cases.

Cheers.
