Renewal Activation

Have been using computer internet security complete ver 8 for a year, came time for renewal, I renewed and received my new key in an email. Tried to activate and it fails every time telling me to check my internet connection. I am connected to the internet , made IE my default browser and I am getting no help from support.

anyone come across this before and find a fix?
