redirected folders - are they skipped

According to the logs redirected folders (my documents and desktops) are being skipped as they are locked files (server 2008 R2), even though it is set to use VSS on locked files - is this the case as these are probably top of the list in terms of what needs to be backed up making this program of no use to me, can anyone confirm this.

i get locked file d:\users\whoever\desktop or my documents cannot be processed using volume shadow copy service.
