Reading the Network Control Rules properly

BGP uses TCP 179 for its route advertisements (can be configured to use UDP 179, but it’s uncommon). But regular computers hardly ever see any of those requests
As for ICMP, there’s a lot of sites out there explaining their types and codes. Just remember to grab a hot cup of coffee before you start reading up on it

m0ng0d, panic & pandlouk,

I’m brand new to Comodo - been using Zone Alarm Pro & ZASS for a number of years & I’m just learning to configure our home LAN (Belkin router) using Comodo. The information you folks have provided is invaluable & thoroughly appreciated. Thank you.

The thing I dont understand is why when you create rules do the network settings and component settings have to be configured individualy ? Maybe the way a computer works, the network and component settings are complently seperate programs but coouldnt the firewall merge the different aspects into a single config window that each item has access to/from the internet ?

Maybe Iam mis-understanding somthing…
