Well its not then, you need to either keep up or stop making a browser that is inferior, simple as that. You chose to base it on something that is changing rapidly, if you couldn’t seriously keep up and fulfill your commitment, then you should have thought about that.
Heck, its perfectly acceptable for Microsoft to release patches one Tuesday a month and sometimes they go months without patching IE. What is with the double-standard around here?
Don’t flatter yourself, you are not in the same league as Micro$oft and although they do release once a week, they do release immediate updates under the security channel, look it up. There is no double standard, you chose to develop something, unless you are serious and want to be taken seriously as a competitive option, then you need to quit acting like you are an injured little child and put your grown up developer pants on. This isn’t some pet project, if it is then say so and we won’t care anymore because we know you have no credibility.
Just because Google and the likes perform a rapid release doesn't mean Comodo has to follow in their footsteps. It would be nice but not always entirely necessary. Please be patient as software development isn't easy or else EVERYONE would be doing it! You're more than welcome to build your own Chromium-based browser if you'd like. Please let us know how it goes if you do! (I can guarantee it won't be a walk in the park!)
You chose to develop based on their code, you must keep up or quit, simple as that. The fact is that you breaking the update functionality of the extension is VERY NECESSARY and has nothing to do with Google, YOU BROKE IT. Well if everyone could do it then what makes you special, you are saying you are not better than a 14 year old in the garage of their parents playing around with coding? You either have to keep yourself to a higher standard or quit pretending you are a serious coder and quit. It is always a sign of weak skills and lack of conviction and backbone when someone lashes out at a legitimate criticism by saying, do it yourself. So if everyone is doing it for themselves, what use are you and what need is for you to exist? So you can put out inferior products and then whine when people call you on it? If I develop one, I will open the source so that EVERYONE can contribute and I certainly wouldn’t call it the most secure cream of the rubbish* product on the planet, unless I could back it up. I never said it was a walk in the park, I have been developing for 25 years and I guarantee you that at least ONE of your daily use enterprise software was developed by me or my team, so don’t be condescending because it shows your ignorance.
P.S. Considering Comodo is HQ'd in the US, means they'd follow US Holidays and customs for the most part. There was a holiday in late November (Thanksgiving) that we here in the US observed and some companies are so nice, they give the day after Thanksgiving (Black Friday) off as well. Combine that with a weekend and you have a nice "holiday" off from work. ;)
I live in the US too, where in there are you living that you get a month and half off for holidays, ■■■■ I am getting ripped off. Must be nice to work for a company that has a 1 day = 1 month holiday schedule. And you are not HQ’d in the US, its the UK but we’ll let it go, all that holiday eggnog must be kicking in.
Before you say people are whining, get your facts straight. Its not about some fancy feature or lack of security. Its the fact that the extensions DO NOT UPDATE, that’s a big deal. So if you are going to lump everyone in one, then at least get it right.
Ditto.
Well the discussion here has been since the release of v30 over a month and half ago the bugs, not features. Just because the mods merge to bury the comments that reflect badly on their product, doesn’t mean its something related to the older posts here, looking at the dates of the comments would help.
It was perfectly constructive, as they had time to update the older less useful version of IceDragon (aka ■■■■■■) and not the more immediate fixing of the much needed extension updating. Just because it pokes a hole in your statement doesn’t make it rude, offensive, or not constructive.
Continuous negativity will result in a shortened life span and is not pleasant for anyone.
Complete denial is also a sign of lack of character and conviction.
