Question on defense+ off + leakproofing

I read this

The company expects to add a third installation mode that turns off the full blown Defense+ HIPS module but continues to offer leak protection, apparently at a level similar to Comodo version 2.4.

On a security site and I was wondering if that had happened yet, or if not, if there was an expected time this would make it in.

(It’s for this reason actually I’m still using version 2)

There is now a V3 download which has the Firewall and Leak Protection. It still takes some getting used to(like everything) but once you have ran your most common programs once it settles down. Then you have an excellant firewall with leak protection.

Just to clairify, it has the settings that the initial release of version 3 did NOT have?
(I just don’t want to install it and then have to go back to version 2 and reconfigure everything again)

When you install V3 now, it asks you whether you want Defense+ or just the Firewall. If you select Firewall then you have the option of including Leak Protection or just using the basic firewall.

As always, the GUI still has the Defense+ stuff on it in case you change your mind later and want the whole thing, but this way you get a level of security comparable to V2.4

Paraphrased by me ;D

Final question, If I were to install without choosing that option, how would I later change to have defense+ off but leak protection on? Just want to know in case I want to expirment with other settings

Well im not so sure about leak protection, but D+ can easily be enabled if you right click on the icon, and go from disabled to the desired setting.

I was more looking to start with D+ but then go down to just firewall and leak protection.
Well I have a laptop I can expirment on if I remember.

Final question, If I were to install without choosing that option, how would I later change to have defense+ off but leak protection on? Just want to know in case I want to expirment with other settings Smiley

Yes it is possible, but note that leakprotection mode is actually defense+ partially enabled. So dont be suprised if you receive some defense+ alerts in leakprotection mode

To change between full defense+ and leakprotection mode, go to miscellaneous/manage my configuration/select.
Here you have 2 possibilities: comodo optimum security, which is defense+ fully enabled and comodo network security which is leakprotection mode.

Thanks, now all I have to dread is teaching it my programs again XD

I just installed it too and did it with defense+ but after installation I found on my xp pro sp2 it started to run slow.
In Summary on the Main page it allows you disable defense+ there too. Is there a difference to do it there or in miscellaneous like you said?

that is where i disabled it and now everything is back to normal- no slow downs

btw i do like this firewall better than ZA, still trying to figure it all out. It is very complicated for the average user but I am not average. If I put it on my clients computers I will have to configure it out for them- they would never be able to do this themselves. That is my only down about the program

thanks
