Quality of CAVS signatures?

Did you dropp gdata after you noticed its detection improvements were no good? 88)

Besides Microsoft “acquired” two AV Brands which dated back way before MS branded Anti-viruses were released.

As for FUD guess it is not uncommon…
Symantec stepping up the FUD over Microsoft Security Essentials

Kyle,

Can I gently remind you of something you said on your OP.

What's your opinion?

no I didn’t drop it, I think it is still a great suite for the price, I just want to see what MS releases, if I can get away with a free suite why not, right?

All I am saying is that MS is amazing right now and how they are getting all of these detections on zero day malware up so fast. They must have really put some work into MSE from what I can tell. I am giving MSE a work out right now with Comodo firewall/D+ to back it up in case it misses anything, but so far it has been top notch.

Thanks for confirming that Gdata was no good as well whenever you didn’t drop it as apparently your previous criticism as OP was inconsistent with related criteria you provided as well.

yeah… sure… ??? 88)

Guess so… whenever you praised GDATA for their good work like you have just done for MSE… 88)

Hope your not being Subjective Ewen.

This was In the general board\discussions until ganda moved it so by that it was implying that it was going to be up for discussion

Guys on topic please

there is nothing wrong with praising multiple companies. It’s like, I like different cars not just one type. Also yes both should be praised. gdata has put together the most affordable suite that works great and is also great for novice users because there is really no input needed unless it finds something. MS deserves praise because they have proven that for now they are serious about getting into the free security market and MSE is a step in that direction. Remember who for the top spot in AV-comparatives, (and no, it was not avira), it was MS, ESET and kaspersky mainly because they also didn’t identify every file under the sun as malware, so low FP are something that should count.

I’m dropping it kyle, sorry :o

Yep but the “praise” was a tad neglecting your own criteria that motivated the criticism you opened that topic with whenever you could be willing to praise any brand everywhere.

Apparently Kaspersky is not immune to FP wheneve clean samples sorting/selection criteria and scoring criteria may provide different results…

The anti-virus software testing group AV-Comparatives gave the Windows XP version of Kaspersky AV an "Advanced+" rating (its highest) in both its February 2008 on-demand detection test (with the fourth highest detection rate among 16 products tested)[5] However, in the Retrospective/Proactive Test May 2008, Kaspersky received the "Standard" rating, detecting 21% of new malware with 1-month old signatures and receiving a substantial amount of false positives

As it looks like Kaspersky don’t have a FP specific board as well searching thir forums may provide additional info as well…

Lol yeah.

Endymionn, He decided not to use G-data. - End of story lol it doesn’t need to be such a big deal :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah lol Kyle no big deal if you have more info about “intelligent” signatures:wink:

I didn’t see you comment about the handpicked MSE samples either… :stuck_out_tongue:

But what about that FPs remark? was that based on the FP board alone?

BTW do you use CIMA?

LOL. I was actually trying to be quantitative - by comparing the quantity of posts made by yourself to the total number of posts in this topic. ;D

Cheers,
Ewen

Don’t turn this into something else.

As for the “Intelliget” Signatures as I’ve said before… It’s quite obvious that they are of a higher quality, because there are less of them and they are more effective.

Lol Kyle would “something else” mean that you can evade related questions despite being the OP?

Adding “obvious” to each thing you write don’t adds up whereas you have neglected each request to clarify further on the implicit premises of your streamlined posts…

Though it looks like you are trying to address all variant aspects with one “definition”.

Pretty much “optimized” approach isn’t it? Whenever you are not an AV. :-\

DUDE, It’s my opinion.

Nevermind then. Though I was expecting a decent reply as well.

Endymion, You need to mind your own buisiness. Your far too confrontational and I request you leave this thread.

Is this what I get from posting your own words?

Then Kyle I do invite you to apply your own remarks to yourself in the first place…

… because DUDE, it’s your opinion

Endymion, I have no intrest to continue this conversations with you as It feels like you are personally attacking me.

Anyone else please express your opions
