every time I run regcure i have to reinstall brother because the registry key was changed. I have looked for the registry key an found something in the hkey_local_machine but I am not sure if I have added the correct one. Anyone know?

All Brother printer drivers place many entries in the registry. If you only found one, I’d be amazed. For example, a Brother MFC-4480D will add around 70 keys to the registry, all of which are required, most of which have multiple data elements.
I’d try contacting Brother support and seeing if they can provide a listing of all registry entries for your model.
