I have numerous computers. Some are not connected to the internet, and some are. I would like the ones that aren’t on the net to be virus-protected because I do use downloaded files on them (that I copy over via USB key). How can I update the Comodo antivirus database on these computers? Can I download the update to a USB key and copy it over to them like with AVG?
I would like Comodo Antivirus to auto-scan media that are inserted into the computer. E.g., if someone sticks a USB key in, or a CD, I want it to automatically scan those media. Is this possible?
Bases.cav in C:\Program Files\COMODO\COMODO Internet Security\scanners is the virus database file. Boot into safe mode to ensure this file isn’t in use and make a copy of it. Place the copy on your USB stick and (again in safe mode) replace the database file on the system you want to update.
All files are scanned when they are accessed, regardless of where they come from. So a scan will not happen when you insert the media, but if you attempt to access any files on that media, those files will be scanned.
All external media is considered untrusted by design in CIS, so it is impossible to trust or exclude any files on external media.
You can also download the latest version of bases.cav on this page every once in a while so you can update the scanners on the computers which are offline.
For some reason the download link isn’t working at the moment (likely server maintenance), but it should be up again soon.
