I tried to install Comodo Firewall to a fresh Windows 8.1 Single language system and it kept resulting with error 1603.
In the logs it said it couldn’t register cmdstat.dll and by googling it I found this thread.
I’ve changed non-Unicode language to English, successfully installed and switched back to Russian. First 15 minutes of usage - nothing irregular noticed. I’ll be observing on how it functions for some time.

so, after being away for a while I tried your suggestion and changed the non-unicode language to english. then tried to install in different languages. It did not do the trick I’m afraid. Still getting the same error message and can’t install CIS.
I’m not sure if this is the place for it, but since i can’t install comodo, can anybody suggest an alternative?

Other than going back to CIS v7 I cannot think of anything right now. :-\
